Hardly fits over 1 leg now.I did one of those the canoe leg was on the Blue Lagoon and the ride to Stanger was hell on the way back thanks to the wind! Ohlsson was the sponsor when I did it and the first Iron Man, I think 1984, was sponsored by the Rand Daily Mail two brands no longer with us. Another interesting point was the Iron Man was effectively dealt a death blow when Chesney Thomas took over the organising and moved it to Sun City. The deal was that you would only be given your finishers medal at a breakfast event the morning after. Pics would prove nothing but the Lochness monster No shame in that, I remember helping the great Graeme Pope-Ellis back into his boat after he took a swim at the yacht club.
