When will they do something about taxi's

I called the Traffic department about 3 weeks ago and reported to them the behavior of taxi's on the road below Tygervalley.

They overtake in yellow lane on the left, skip reds and speed.

I even got a call back saying they will be there "tomorrow" then "Friday"

I use the road EVERY day and have never seen traffic police there.......

Then this morning my prediction come true....Why why why

When will a proper stance be taken? They confiscate cellphones but not these killing machines?

Fining them clearly does not work.

more details please. I also use the road every day. where exactly did this happen?

Happened Here.

Looks like taxi was going towards T-junction like they do everyday and hit a car coming the other way.

They do take chances at that intersection. They turn left infront of cars from the right hand lane into Frans Conradie (double lanes, both turning right into Frans Conradie from Carl Cronje, left lane obviously a left turning lane also)

You gotta have your wits about you in the mornings. If the vehicles is backed up in Carl Cronje, they use the yellow lane as a third lane to overtake everybody on the left, only to push in where road narrows where Raglan rd joins.

Had a few close encounters there myself.

If you're putting in a request about the taxi's, please put in a note about the Southern suburb moms and dads who run red lights as a matter of course. I know it's not their fault, they're distracted, they are doing something very important and it's hard to chat on your phone while obeying traffic signals.

Just leave it, move to another country if the taxis are bothering u!

So instead of trying to make a difference and actually help people one should just run away to another country?

Well done to the OP for trying to make a difference in this situation at this intersection, I am sure you will get someone to help sort out the problem

I'm all for that. Good on you, I applaud you giving it a tonk. What are your next moves?

To answer you question. My addition to the pot was that on the weekend I directed a patrol car after a merc' driving at 20kms an hour, swerving all over the place through Newlands (after the rugby) and had to confiscate a friends keys who thought it was acceptable to drink shooters and beer through the rugger and still want to drive home to his pregnant wife and 2 year old kid. That got the guy aggressive and he took a swing at me. He thanked me the next day.

I also ferried 4 mates to the pub and was a designated driver for the evening but that nearly didn't make much difference when guy drove straight through as set of lights in Constantia and took out the car in from front of me and nosed another car. I'm a witness in that case, unfortunately my passengers who were a little worse for wear won't make compelling statements!
