Was also there this morning. Excellent ride as always!

Was a bit disappointed as I did the Blue and Red trail and slashed my rear tyre's sidewall on the last descent of the Red. Couldn't do the Yellow with a compromised tyre.

We also did blue and red. Next week we're doing USN at BRB so sadly not able to explore the yellow until the last Saturday in Jan.

The Yellow is a lot of fun. Not as steep and tight as the Red, but still keeps you on your toes.

Blue, red and yellow linked must be a jol of note. The festive season really sapped all fitness so as soon as I'm back on top of it I'll give that a go.

True, my aim isn't for mileage there. 40km there is the equivalent workout of about 80km at a venue such as Modderfontein.

The worst climb is on the Red trail, as you pass over that small stream. It's a dead straight climb with no place to hide.

Totally agreed. That red climb is a killer, and the yellow route climb up to the mini informal quarters is quite a wheezer as well. I was there on Sunday at midday heat... Eish. Klapped that yellow climb only to find chopped down trees covering the paths, so turned back to the quarters and took the shortcut back... If it wasn't so hot, I probably would have tried harder to find the path over the trees

I rode the yellow today and honestly found most of it boring (mind numbing) and once one think it is going to get fun it makes a sharp 90° turn (not flowy), there were about 2 sections that were really fun (one being from the top of that areal thing down to next to the road (Beyers).

I hope they are going to build routes on those hills in the distance. Now that will be fun if it is anything like the section after this pic was taken (after the areal).

Hayley, I know that Darren and the guys are always keen for feedback as they are always upgrading, and I know you ride a lot, so I think you may be in a great position to help them make the trails even more fun than they really are ! They are very responsive on their Facebook page, and are always keen to improve! Somebody gave them critical feedback about the negative camber of some corners, so they made fantastic berms... Somebody gave feedback about the floating bridge... There are now 2...

taking a chance on this question, but is there any possibility to open up Heia Safari trails for a night ride this weekend? We are desperately looking for somewhere to train the night through, but worried about riding in a public area at night. We are training for a 36 hour ride and need to put in hours at night as well as practice with our lights.

Ride in the Spruit from fratelli's to emmarentia and back, with loops through delta park.

Gives you about 15-20km's a lap and is PERFECTLY SAFE.

No "incidents" in the Spruit in a long time and the CSS guys patrol along there and thru delta 24/7.

As i understand.

Open 24 hours. Only the yellow route will be closed. The blue, and red route is open. Red should be fun @ night.

Just phone them to confirm 011 919 5000

So.....has anyone spotted the Hippo?

I saw that sign on Sunday. Made me way more alert. Sadly no sighting but we did hear a troop of baboons.

Tell you what, after reading the sign, when i did the yellow, close to the water, i was a bit scared...every rustle, movement of branches made me wee a wee bit...
