In 2011 I was 103kg 194cm .Dropped to 96kg in 2012 and stabilized at 98kg since then .Dropped 1 pants size and 2 shirt sizes .Steadily getting rid of all the oversized clothes

Started cycling about 2 years ago, went from 108kg to 93kg in 1.5 years, picked up a bit again and currently at 95kg. Not doing too much riding at the moment (blaming winter and work). I'm 186cm tall and was always heavy (but thin as a twig), will be stoked if I can go under 90kg at some point (not sure how to get rid of the "tube" around my belly).

Plenty other benefits than just weight lost. But to keep the weight in check I know I need to cycle a bit more (try and do at least 250km a month) and generally eat less (especially cutting out seconds at dinner).

I have noticed that I don't really lose weight unless I start putting in serious hours.... Like around 10-12 hours a week. With a little commitment it's not too difficult to get those numbers in summer. Winter is another story. I leave for work on the dark and get home around 17:00..... So in average I get in around 6 hours in winter.

I've lost about 6kgs in the past 4 weeks.

Feeling better on the bike, but all the birthday parties is making it tough to stick to the eating and drinking properly.

Guess I just have to ride more to burn more

The tube is almost always alcohol related .When I trained for the CPT in 2012 I got rid of my tube completely by hard training and no alcohol for 12 weeks

Oh dear, I've put on 18kgs since I started cycling :-(

Lost 2kg's the other day, but that was when I was off the bike for a month doing NO exercise.

Think its all the food I eat afterwards......

I used to play action cricket, squash and ride the race horses before I started cycling so I get the higher impact sports are better for my weight than an endurance sport.

The funny thing is that I don't drink, may have a beer or glass of wine once a month. Also eating fairly healthy (no soft drinks, chips, sweets etc.). Suspect its carbs, but not willing to try a low carb diet.

I started at 108kg's in September 2009. Height of 1.95m so not overweight but lekker chubby. Sitting at 86Kg's now (dropping from 92kg's merely from lifestyle change).

Yeah, it's *** in winter. Although I ride more in winter, but generally once a week is all I get time for. If I ride 2-3 times a week I can usually shed another 3 kgs quite quickly with body fat around 14% if Discovery Health are anywhere near target

To burn fat I need more than 2 hours a day 4 times a week .At least I get an hour of hard training 3 to 4 times a week .Keeps the fitness but no fat burn .Will have to wait until spring

I work for myself and work is quiet right now so an upside is I'm able to get on the bike a bit during the week in the afternoons. I thought winter riding would be terrible on the highveld but once warmed up it's dead-right. Because of the short daylight hours, I've taken to doing laps on the roads where I stay and if it gets too dark I can call it quits without having to go far. It has some decent climb to distance ratio and has really helped my climbing endurance as well. Then weekends it's all off-road fun 'n' games.

I found though that I started losing weight immediately when I started the cycling - even averaging 40 or 50 a week. I am currently riding about 3x that but the weight loss has tapered off now and I'm happy with my current weight. I don't know whether it's a factor or not but I don't eat before I ride - always after or maybe something small like an energy bar during.
