Wyatt Earp Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Hi all. Just to check how many hubbers will be interested in something like this. The course will be to teach awareness and self defense. We are looking at incorporating general fitness as well as the upper body needs to be ready for some defensive moves. The courses will be around how to be aware, what to look out for and what to do in a situation .Some effective defensive tactics. How to stay calm. How to react if need be. We will be teaching how to punch and block and how to improve your awareness and reactions. This will be good for cyclists as well as runners and just everyday movements . The training will be done by a highly skilled group of instructors and the aim will be to get people properly equipped as opposed to teaching them stuff they forget within a day. Anyone keen ? Wyatt Earp Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Knowledge is power. I am keen. Depending on how many people we can get, this will be great. We will be teaching real effective stuff, we want the ladies especially to feel confident and empowered . Uni 1
Uni Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Hey Sheriff - it's a great idea and I agree and I often think we're our own best weapon.I already do self defence and basic combat at tai chi class where i get to be thrown about by the senior kung fu students - so I won't take up this offer. Wyatt Earp 1

marko35s Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Being even a little better prepared is always a good idea.

Gen Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Thanks Uni Hi Gen The courses will be in Midrand and a day will be decided upon. Aaah thx.. I would really like to do something like this, once you've decided a date and if it's over the weekend, I can maybe arrange to go up to the city for a weekend. Edited July 1, 2014 by Gen Wyatt Earp 1
Wyatt Earp Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Being even a little better prepared is always a good idea. Precisely our plan behind this.We spent a few days again with Sihan Stan and Sensei Keith and Mark Robinson this past week and we discussed numerous options of survival without trying to be a hero. We have looked deeply in to some self defense methods on offer from various forms of martial arts, unfortunately with what they prescribe at times, you need to be really advanced with a great build up of muscle memory, we are looking at basic instincts and how one can improve on that.Awareness being our main focus.
Mats Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I am keen for something like this...but i dont want to get hurt in the process. Uni 1
Uni Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I am keen for something like this...but i dont want to get hurt in the process. You sound like me There's a senior student I have to spar with cause we're about the same height, and I can be saying owwwwwhhh and she still won't let up until I'm on the floor screaming STOP!!!! Which according to her is the only way to "tap out" -she scares me.

We take guys or girls like those and place them with others that are quicker and more agile and get them to ruffle them up bit, that normally brings them back down quick.Carpie, have you eve seen me hurt anyone ?Bullies won't be tolerated, this will be good training and a good way to become better equipped .
