Hi roadies,

can someone please explain to me how your CAT1,2,3 stuff works?

and is that categories just for time trails?

Are you referring to the way that climbs are categorised in road cycling?

its basically different races.

All cat1 riders will start together and race "100km"

all cat2 riders will start together and race "80km"

CAT1 is normally the elite or riders aged up to 29. CAT2 would be the sub vets 30 - 39 and a few of the aging vets not wanting to grow old gracefully, CAT3 would be your Vets 40 - 49 and the Masters 50 - 59 as well as the ladies, with CAT4 being for riders just getting into the racing not having been licenced before, and at the TT you refer to the 1st and 2nd placed CAT2 riders actually beat the CAT1 riders
