Reminds me of the empty stadiums we sometimes see - why not drop the price of entry and fill seats.?

Likewise, drop entry fees and get more cyclists participating.

Bunch of whiners!

If it's too expensive for you, go and do the Kaleo MTB Klassik on the same day. It's only R150. (But it's in Ceres, though, so good luck with that...)

Not sure where your attitude comes from. Always remember there are people less fortunate than you.

I think people are voicing their concerns more for the sake of the event rather than trying to save some money. When people see an entry fee increase like that they just decide a day around the peninsula is a better idea, they don't let the organiser know. Race day rolls around and there are 400 okes rolling around D'ville and the organiser and sponsor sits there wondering what went wrong.

I think most of it is constructive input. As we all want to see road cycling increase in the Western Cape people telling an organiser what they want is not a bad thing at all.

What can be taken away from the thread so far is:

- Take all the give away lucky draw prizes, sell them in the shop and use that money to make the entry fee lower.

- Maybe PPA should come to the party and help out these charaties running events by covering traffic cops, registration and timing. (That was not brought up, thats my idea but it is an amazing idea.)

I think they do assist in some way if i remember correctly

Obviously not enough!

I cannot wait for the PPA AGM, its coming up soon. I am going to rock up in my skin suit start doing squats and lunges until they concede to spend more money on road events.

I will be there to watch. Will be interesting viewing and to see how long it takes them to concede.

I think it is important to look at Rands / Km. So lets compare:

Durbie Dash ( R 4 / km ) the organisers state 2/3 of route is not on existing trails.

Sewe Weeks poort ( R 3,75 / km ) and this is only on Gravel Roads

Darling Brew ( R 4,20 / km )

Piket-bo-Berg ( R 3,17 / km )

So lets look an an Ultra:

Trans-Baviaans ( R 6,95 / km )

Stage races:

W2W ( R21 / km ) yes you get food and tent accommodation

RidetheRhino ( R 19 / km )

Cape Epic ( R 33 / km )

So, it all boils down to the added benefits I guess. Some races close to the city, also have additional expenses, like traffic fees ( most of the time it is After Hours fees ), City of Cape Town fees, ect.
