I have a 'bottle' of tools on my GT, seeing how the bike has 2 water bottle cages I sometimes take the GT out for an hour or two so I don't have sweaty Camel-back! But generally I use the Camelpak. The lid has been taped on and it has some Velcro around it, stops it from bouncing out.post-12678-0-58117800-1406287293_thumb.jpg

Hanger - enough tools to convert to semi-SS.......and the ride goes on.

Duct tape - checked (piece around tire lever).......and the ride goes on.

Toilet paper - used during last Sondela race, buddy had a quick and loose tummy......talk about maintaing following distance ;-)

Now I know why you call yourself "BarHugger". It's because of all the weight on your back

........mmmmmm........brainfartstorm......what if the saddle companies develop a saddle base (obviously carbon) that can act as storage space, with a fliptop upper sadle construction for the gluteus maximus......

.....almost like that storage units with scooters.......just smaller, lighter, water resistant, dustproof, more aerodynamic, rear light unit included construction.........combined with a BSS marketing program.

Specialized SWAT system...

+1.......my scrotiem appendix makes me look like a complete d1ck.......and Mother Teresa when I stop to help.......

(piktha for proof)

.......bike however looks lean and mean.......opposite to rider.....

WTF? All that stuff - jeez, you are worse than flipping MacGyver...FOUR tyre levers???

Spez got clever with their swat system. Tool clips into the frame, chain breaker and link in the headpost. I don't have the plastic box under the water bottle, but the plugs and tire levers are light and unobtrusive enough to go in my back pocket.

For the longer stage races, I think i will strap a tube under my seat.

Oh yes, 2 bombs and inflator are neatly attached to my seatpost by a holder clamp. Neat and works a charm.

No clink clonk, no extra weight, weight distributed nicely across bike, and it's all out of the way.

Best option, can put in a bottle holder on seat post or on frame, no rattle if things packed in properly and no loosing anything as there is no zip to come loose

Tip, turn the bottle around when you put it in the bottle cage. On extremely bumpy sections the lid does fly of and then you stand to loose your tools (and you can't buy the lid seperately :whistling: )

........once helped a threesome........two flats and a broken chain doing the long walk back together........they finished the race riding.

I'm done with saddle bags, lost too much of my S#!t because of them.

In 6 yrs of riding...NEVER lost a thing (buy a PROPER saddle bag!!) and never a cling..clong...(stuff it full of ****!! It's what its there for...)

Pfft!!

Saddlebags are just not #Enduro.

They generally don't work if you have a dropper post.

You often need more than one can carry.

Makes your bike handle like ship.

Usually noisy.

You can loose tools.

Looks noobish.

Even when I started racing twenty something years ago they were laughed at. Extra mass under the saddle doesn't help if you're a sprinter either.

Especially if you already have a capacious scrotum...

I do agree with not keeping tools in pockets though. Far too much potential for stabbing by allen key.

What's a PROPER saddle bag? Zips on my bag kept opening, I've lost count on how many multi tools, trye levers, tubes and cans I've lost, thanks god I never put my car keys in there,

It can be argued that it can act as a counter weight for sideways motion. Just joking

Anyway this thread topic ends with MTB we rarely sprint down mountains. For those of us not chasing the podium we also do not have sprint finishes.
