  1. 1. Which would you buy if you had R10K and needed a new carbon frame?

I'm not a brand person. Simply want the best value.

Change my frame every 4 - 5 years, and my Raleigh RC6000C is getting a bit flexy now after 4 years, so time to look at something new.

Mileage per week: 150 - 250 km on my bike (depending on the time of the year).

02h55 94.7 and 03h20 Argus.

Currently have Ultegra groupset, Easton EA50 Aero wheelset.

Trek Madone 3.1:

- Lifetime warranty

- 1.2 kg (frame only)

- UCI approved

Edge Design Airy SL (see classifieds under Road Frames for more details):

- 2 year warranty

- 0.85 g (frame only)

- UCI approved.

The other alternative is to go 2nd hand, but have been burnt before with a used carbon frame (so would prefer new).

I would buy a Chinese frame.cos if u looking for a brand that hasn't been ridden by someone in an massive scandal, it's urban only option. Agree with pusher, get over it.

They're both "chinese" frames ... (both are made in Taiwan).

What size? If you're a Large (56cm) give me a shout. I've got a LOOK 566 (clearance stock)...at almost your budget.

you should take it!!!

566 is a awesome frame.

It has a slightly longer head tube so the ride is a bit more forgiving. My medium weight is 1025gr.

Just have a Look at the quality of the paint and the carbon weave.

Pure porn

Mate of mine has been though about 7 Trek Madone frames over the last few years, all warrantee claims. His last one he sold and is now on a Bianchi, got sick of rebuilding his bike and the mission of getting the Trek replaced.

Buy the Look...

Association with LA in my mind does not impact brand negatively. LA approached EVERYTHING (yes that part too) scientifically and as a result I reckon Trek is way up there in terms of product design and quality

I didn't see any figures mentioned but I'm guessing buget to be 10-15k.?

That get's a very good 2nd hand frame.

How about Scott as a new alternative.?

I've seen CR1's and Foil's for about that price.

I would go for the Edge (It's the FM066 frame if you wanna do some research on it).

Mr Look how bout some 58cm clearance frames :w00t: :w00t:

Unfortunately only Large's (56cm) left. I do have a small 695 going for R32 000 if anyone was interested?
