Great for keeping track of total distance covered in the year but surely it peves everyone off with the same route on strava twice a day

I put my Strava on if I go to the shop. I commute daily and commuting by far makes up the majority of my KMs, of course I am tracking it. The trophies have dried up because of the same route but what pleasure one gets if you managed to collect a few every now and then.

Every km counts towards good health, so make it count

why would this be annoying? If you do not like what people record on Strava, unfollow them. I use Strava for my own leisure and benefit, not to see who does the most km's, climbs the most or does the fastest sections. For me its about recording my own progress. I started commuting again about a month ago. With about 50km of commuting a week (once to work, and once back), another ride or 2 in the week and 2 decent weekend rides I have cut my commuting time from over 90 minutes a month ago to just over 60 minutes. Don't ask me how far up I am on the Tiekiedraai climb, because I have no idea, I do know that my average speed up this climb is about 30% faster than a month ago which is what matters to me. If my Strava activities annoy you, unfollow me. I honestly wouldn't be bothered if I had no-one following me on Strava.

i do. Not worried about what other people think about my strava - it's more about me keeping track of my riding / fitness, and if it peves them, then they can unfollow me.

I used to, then it became a chore....will start up again as it is a great motivational tool when negotiating new bike "Stuff" with the powers that be :)

I put all workouts/rides incl my IDT sessions on Strava, but make these private. Strava is a good training tool & a great way to track hours/km per week

How does Strava work on an IDT ... it will show you covering 0m and lots of time to get that far?

ha, ja not great for ave speed.... I do an upload from my Garmin which only shows time and heart rate. I'm more interested in tracking my training by time than distance Edited by ians

I don't use strava, but as soon as I get on my bike, Endomondo tracks me!

If your wheel has the speed sensor and your cycle computer tracks the distance then you can upload it to Strava. Also you will see the option of selecting Stationary trainer on the upload page. Then it does not show your map, but still records time, distance, hr etc.
