i am completely blown away when I see how much money gets pumped in to these teams and riders, vehicles being given to them, loads of kit and bikes thrown at them ,salaries and endorsement packages and in the end of the day I have to wonder, what the hell for ?

Yip en dan trek hulle dit deur hulle gatte met dronk parties and PED....Being professional is after all a big part of being a pro, you are a brand ambassador, I honestly wonder how the corporates calculate their ROI when you look at how the local okes carry on.

never heard the full story behind that one...

Nope neither have I.. and no one here ever gives all the details. . Sigh.. they just hint at stuff and one email keeps on getting mentioned, but never any details..

Was apparently ugly...but ja, how can a corporate be see any value in that...they are there to promote the brand not destroy it...

That is why I think Reid and Rouke are so much better than our local guys, they have work their asses off in the international races just to survuve the 80% rule.

Btw arme Rouke he was doing well yesterday until he flatted

And they are sporsored big time

And so are/were Fedgroup.. why didn't they go ride any of the big marathon races in Europe?

I tell you why.. it's easier getting a good result in SA than a good result riding against the best in the world week in and week out.

I'm also a bit curious...

Based on the numbers I have heard I remember thinking "fark - I wouldn't work for that!".

Euro pros maybe but the numbers I've heard bashed about locally put them firmly in the "middle class".

Don't want to sound facetious but I'm sure the coaches will have said 'more and bigger things to come' 'big improvement' .......

It was a big improvment on the first couple of races.

He finished 35th in the end. He gave it horns and has gained huge experience.
