Unless you got the early bird entry fee at R1300, then it's about evens out once you consider travel costs.

I agree it's expensive, but I think I was sold on not having to fork out travelling and accommodation costs together with having to take annual leave.

It's so convenient being able to participate in this type of event, just up the road.

I agree - in the sense that given its so close to home the entry fee becomes more affordable because of the savings of travel, accommodation etc etc

Does this however justify them charging a higher fee?

Even midlands ultra is only R1100 including day fee if you not TSA registered. Sure IM is a great event but I'm gonna have to start seriously picking my races if I pay IM type fees. But then again I'm sure there are those out there that dont have restricted budgets.

The midloands is only 1100 because the event in December was cancelled ... after January 11th it will be around 1500 I suspect which is about the normal price.

Trirock is same price if not slightly cheaper than IM70,3, its on our doorstep and well we save on transport /accom costs ..must be supported to ensure it is a regular event as it is far more convenient than any other event

Yes it is possible, if you log into your registration information there will be an option to substitute

I received an automatic confirmation by email when I entered, but when I sent proof of payment my email bounced with an 'invalid email address' message.

Since then (October), I have received no newsletters, registration details etc.

I swam the Lake Heritage swim at Heia Safari yesterday and there was no sign of any roadworks taking place. I wonder if they can complete a 1km stretch of road in as little as 4 weeks......

Was there yesterday as well and thought of exactly the same thing. Hope they come through on their promises, this could be a good event for us here in jozi in the future.

I am still not convinced about the tarred-section-to-be, it is much more than a km and this sort of work costs! Secondly had a look at the bike route, that section turning into the R563 and then onto the road to Hartebeeshoek Satellite station is very busy with taxis hurtling down there.

Let's hope the organisers can pull it off.

I'm starting to wonder if its possible to get everything done in time. This has the potential to be a massive event in the future but if they cant pull off the first event they will lose all credibility going forward.
