Good morning

It's is obvious by the many negative remarks and sarcasm the post has drawn the we have not added any insight into what our primary post was intended to do.

It is clear that many members have had bad experiences with bike insurance or have the agenda of creating doubt among the many sincere and genuine reasons people belong to the Hub.

It is disappointing to see that some comments and responses are clearly put up to create controversy and we cannot be drawn in to tese debates

What was intended to be some thing that we thought would be valuable to the thousands of cyclists has become a forum for a few individuals that for what ever reason find it necessary to take the information and create controversy.

We have decided that imparting what we see as information that might help cyclist avoid situations we mentioned in the initial post has only allowed some individuals to either try discredit our post or simply draw attention to themselves.

To all the members that did have positive input we thank you unfortunately we feel that we cannot be drawn into debates as has happened on this forum. We are looking at alternative ways of communicating the type of information we posted so as to keep you informed.

We will not be responding on this particular posting any further.

I hope that our initial post helps those of you with a sincere reason for reading our post.

Regards

It's simple: If you don't have the social media skills needed to engage a community online, don't engage them. Regardless of your intentions, it's clear that you don't have the necessary language, legal and debating skills for this type of debate. It may be a tough cookie to swallow, but disliking a fact does not change it.

6. If my bike gets nicked after an event, dont give me hassles asking if it was locked to an immovable object. Ive been bleeding out my eyes for 80km I dont carry a 5kg chain and lock in a pocket with my gels for the finish.

Dont give me stories of chains and locks required either for my roofrack.

You do realise that leaving property unlocked (and thus exposed) and expecting it to be covered for full loss means that you should be expecting to cover a seriously high risk with a seriously high premium?

Please show me your chain you carry in your back pocket to lock your bike when going for a pee after a race. I would also like to see the chain and lock you suggest for a roofrack over and above what they come with from Thule.

... and is exactly why thieves live & breath for these kinds of opportunities..

Heck we even told you how you can add value, it will cost you nada(just releasing some of your data for the benefit if us and you) and still you couldnt be bothered. Not only that, but we gave you a link on a silver platter ito what your clients want in insurance and we are the trolls...nee wat, good luck with your venture

So mnr i-cycle...I hate to say this but...dont let the door hit you on the way out. If you want to post ads without adding value, contact admin and contribute financially to thehub...maybe it is better that you leave

Hmm, personally I dont understand the hostility here. I thought the post was interesting and informative, similar to many I get from my various insurers.

Perhaps all they wanted to do was just inform the public of a possible scenario, read it and accept it for what it is, this place has honestly become a toxic environment, I dont understand it anymore.

it's the "you're right, but I'm righter than you" attitude that infects every aspect of our daily lives, whether it's driving, cycling, pushing your trolley down the isle in a supermarket or whatever.

Apart from the Classifieds,Events and Tech forums the rest has outlived its usefulness and will die

Even the Rant and Rave has many none cycling related subjects posted

I did not have any issues with icycles post. All a bit self explanatory. The same people are always nit picking and spiteful. They are a minority

"3. My bike travels on a Thule roof rack, if the rack breaks and the bikes come off at 100km/h on the highway, pay me out for my bikes and broken roofrack." (Not picking a fight -just using this as an example)

Ok, now you're settled, what about the pedestrian (a breadwinner) standing next to the road's next of kin who is coming after you for loss of income - why didn't the insurer / broker not give you this cover? Stupid insurer / broker!

We hardly ever imagine what the worst is that can happen, so if a cyclist was to draw up a policy wording, it would be inadequate. The same goes for an insurer without a cycling background - the product will be inadequate to cater for all the possibilities.

We need a policy for cyclists by cyclists.

Maybe the HUB should start an insurance fund (that is how insurance started - with shipping companies placing their funds in a mutual pool).

There is clearly a market for this, it is about the right product and cover. I would have lapped up the opportunity to hear from the "horse's mouth" so to speak ito what my clients want. 37 pages on thread of shortfalls and issues that if addressed will see them laughing to the bank and have happy clients.

Agreed, but I get the feeling that some companies see a gap in the market and try to fill it with an existing product they have which they force into a mould.

Many of the cycling policies are based on regular Motor insurance wording.

Yea cross and upsell the kuk out of it....I totally agree, they must tailor it specific to cycling...totally re develop it from scratch...contracts / wording / cover etc.
