Berry Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 What is the best tyres for the karoo to coast mtb race. I want something light that will not puncture easy.
Boerklong Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Im just going with what I have. Maxxis Crossmarks Tubeless. Aiming for 5hrs so dont think I will gain much changing.
CleatsnCleavage Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 erm...tubeless?? Its a freaking dirt roadie race.
Boerklong Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 erm...tubeless?? Its a freaking dirt roadie race.its whats on there at the moment so I will just stick with that. Cant be bothered changing to something else then changing back again.
BrandonF_ Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 GEAX Mezcals. 540grms each, extremely low rolling resistance but surprisingly very grippy and crazy fast, UST protection, side knobbies if you want it "sideways" and they're TUFF. I run these tyres allround, and promise you, I'll NEVER use any other tyre again,...they're that goodÂ
Ispeed_V Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Conti Race King protection 2.2 Front and Rear
Thomo Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Its a freaking dirt roadie race. Easy rolling tyres seem to be the order of the day.Sounds like even slicks could work ... LOL
NotSoBigBen Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Slightly off topic but does anyone actually change their tyre choice for specific races? Seems like a lot of PT to me
Kranswurm Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I would poep in my broek coming down Prince Alfreds Pass on slicks
Izak Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Easy Rollers preferably no wider than 2.1. Unless you a serious (read pro) snake this won't make the biggest difference, what will make the biggest difference, it's too late for now
Jakkals. Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Spez renegade control 29 x 1.95Â What he said, but I will only go with it on the rear and xking infront.

Izak Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Skeptics say that wider tyres have less rolling resistance.mmmm, more surface touching the road, more friction.I'm open to be proven wrong though ... would actually be quite interesting ... anyone?

arendoog Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Slightly off topic but does anyone actually change their tyre choice for specific races? Seems like a lot of PT to me Lot of people can,t leave their gear alone .If it works ,stick with it !If not, change .Appreciated my 2 x 10 XT setup at the eqstra over the weekend .So many gear changes .It must be hard on a right hand if you ride 1 x 10 .Any tyre with slime in for the dirt roadie race will do .If you are riding amongs the rocks and thorns ,conti protection are the toughest of the lot
