I agree with Spirog. The secret though is that the best of the best trails are on the hill accross the road from the clubhouse and I dont know if there is a map for 1st timers to explain how to get to them.

I would also love to go there soon soon again!

If you are referring to "Gauntlet", "Vodu Lounge", "Bat out of hell", "Rene's Rumble" all those trail are closed due to sappi doing road maintenance.

You best bet will be the 30km marked route. It has some tech section but there are "B" lines.

Most of the info you're looking for can be found at karkloofmtbtrails.co.za

Also the Howick trails are excellent. Permits can be obtained from the medi-clinic in town. Details are available at www.howickmountainbiking.co.za

Cool thanks guys! Ill be there this sat and sun!

Where on the Midlands will you be?

As mentioned... Karkloof, Howick, Hilton and Cedara all have great trails. Personally, I wouldn't ride Cedara if it's just you and your wife but the other three are safe. Hilton is less technical than Karkloof and Howick but still has lots of flowing singletrack...

Hi all, just to give you some updated official information - the only closed trail on Sappi property is actually Bat Outta Hell. This means that riding up Lebanon on the road is also not allowed (due to the heavy machinery and trucks that are continually up and down the road). You are still welcome to access all the other outback trails via Campbell's and Pressure Cooker.

(We can highly recommend the ride from the club up Campbell's, down Jewitt's Jive, up Pressure Cooker, and then down Rene's Rumble back to the single track which takes you back to the club. We rode these trails on Saturday, and aside from the trails being very dry, the trail debris is minimal).
