Yes, let people use sport enhancing drugs if they want to, but let it be like applying for a licence.  When you purchase your licence you either purchase a "clean licence" or a "drug licence" and you race and win according to your category.  Those that want to OD themselves can be free to do so as long as they are prepared to accept the long term consequences and their medical aids (if they have one) are prepared to cover them as a special risk.

We are all faced with an "enhancement drug" at some stage in our life.  It's called choice whether it be choice of motor car or bicycle.  But it is a choice that should be out in the open so that we all know exactly what we are dealing with and against what we are competing.

Think if you do an article on this thread will be more interesting then your topic you have......

Any case. Making doping legal will only send the problem in a new direction for the competitors to increase some kind of advantage over the other........that can only be by doping more and "kill" the cyclist with the doctors and managerts sitting next to the road with big smiles on there faces to get the win.

Organisations like WADA will always one step behind. But they must be there to try and make it clean and fair.

But winning a grand tour and years later its proven your a doper.....what pride you have in that............NON.

Now i'm off to go study a bit!

But Cannabinoids is not a drug and should be removed from the WADA list .

Actualy one of the most harmfull drugs to those with a predisposition to mental illness - permanent phsychosis and schizophrenia - to name a few "side effects". you would be supprised at the number of f'd up people thanks to good ol "harmless" grass

Legalise it' date=' it will be safer.

The doping in the peleton is rife, and we fool ourselves by saying it doesnt happen.

Someone pointed out that the test is behind the drug. Very true, and the two seem to go hand in hand.

As for disallowing Doctors, and only allowing WADA doc's...bad idea. Remember, corruption exists anywhere. Eliminate the need for it...and it will dissapear.

That's what the ASO is attempting by banning Astana.

Follow the money: cyclists dope to win, to get a paycheck from a sponsor.  The sponsor wants to be seen.  The sponsor knows where the cyclists are (or can demand it -- wanna get paid?  Tell me where you are)  The sponsor can do random drug tests, and prescribe doctors.

The sponsor wants to be seen.

So the ASO bans entire teams which makes the sponsor sit up, and take notice.

What's the bet Rabobank's marketing director called the cycling team's boss when the Rasmussen story broke?

Once you've found the money, you make the money responsible.

(I am fully aware the ASO is hypocritical with Astana vs. some other teams -- I'm not attempting to defend the ASO)
