I got the Sony Action cam from the R1k takelot deal a few months back....and honestly, the HP cam appears to be a better deal.

 

The form-factor is a huge plus!

 

...Takealot has a gopro chest strap for under R500 which you could make work...

If you record at that quality, you're not going to get anywhere near a decent run time no matter what cam you buy.

I disagree. My Hero3 Black gets between 90 and 120 minutes at 720p120fps which is the same bitrate as 1080p60fps.

Hi can someone tell me what is the use for the rubber anchor and the mount strap?

So i used my cam for the 1st time at the Dusi2C. Good little cam. What software can i download to make a video from all the bits and pieces that doesn't leave a watermark logo across the center?

 

Does anyone elses fog up in the protective case near water and cold temps?

I see Makro has a special on an HP Action cam for R999 with various mounts.

Do any of you have any experience with it?

 

It seems like a do-able camera and a lot cheaper than a Go-Pro especially since I'm not even sure I will use it a lot (based on many comment seen on the forums).

Hi. I bought one and had it returned the next week. Worked half of the time etc. That is why GOPRO cost a few thousand.

If you do use the HP my advise is to shoot at 720p60 because on full HD it does 30 fps which looks pretty crap when you slow it down. I shot this last week in 1080p30 and slowed it down 4 times, so it's about 7 fps.

 

 

I'll revisit that spot and see what I can come up with if I shoot at 60 fps.

I am in the market to buy a new action cam. I am have two options: First, to buy an action cam to mount on the shotgun. Second, to buy a cam to mount on head or chest. I guess it boils down to what do you want to capture. I do a lot of upland hunting and i want to capture my dog pointing and shooting at the same time. I am thinking of buying GOPRO Hero2 outdoors. In the package you will get a head mount but it does not include shotgun mount. I like this camera because it can take wide angle pictures or videos. Do you have any recommendations or ratings or..... Thanks a lot.

GoPro comes at quite a premium but it is crystal clear why , nothing else can match it 

 

You could use the handle bar mount on your shotgun

 

Go for a hero 3 white or silver or even the session cause they are much much cheaper now.

 

The hero 3+ and 4 series are also great but also ramp up in price because of a few super refined features.

 

Sj cams and the other cheaper ones work, but don't come close to a GoPro
