Which MTB saddle to get?

Hey guys, need some advice on a new saddle for my mtb.

I just got the bike and it came with a Selle Italia Q-bik but its way too narrow and killing my butt.

I have one of the older planet-x saddles on my roadie because I went through a bunch of different ones before finding that to be the most comfy.

I see the rapide is a similar one to the older planet-x but not so sure about it.

Seen a few people riding the Selle Italia SLR's and Fizik Gobi but dont want to splash out a bunch of cash on a saddle that I will hate.

So any recommendations?

Im on the bigger side at 90kg's and 1.87 so no skinny people saddles please!

At home I got a box full of saddles , those skinny people saddles as you like to call it . And I hated them all , but listen to the advice that after a while you will get use to them . RIGHT !!!! Because I stopped racing for podiums 20 years ago and now enjoy the odd race but mostly just wanna ride I splashed out on a Brooke saddle . The best money I have EVER spend on a bicycle . Just saying .

Cant go wrong with a Specialized saddle, as long as its the correct width. Made the change 2 weeks before K2C and it was the best decision ever...

I'm 96 kg and use a fizik tundra, hurt like hell the 1st few rides, now I don't have an issue. If you looking for affordable comfort and a wider option, look at the gobi for sure. Relatively light and IMO very comfy

I know my bike(Anthem) came out originally with the tundra but then the q-bik was fitted and and both seem very narrow.

The gobi looks like it could be a good option too, seems to be a similar shape to the saddle on my roadie.

I've been using a Specialized Phenom Expert for about 2 years now, very comfortable for what looks like a minimalist saddle.

So you make a lot of k@k decisions? Taken 3 weeks to judge your best ever decision?

I am also heavy and did not like the sella for the same reasons .I think you need a flatter saddle in the mid width range  .WTB Silverado seems to work for a lot of heavy riders including myself .Spez avatar and phenom are flatter saddles .Bontrager also make a flatter saddle with a slight rise that works for me

Go to bike shop and ask to try out test saddles. It will save you alot at the end....

Everybody bums are different and some works well and others not....

Lots of people kept telling me that Specialized are the best and I can't sit on one of them???

Only SLR works for me, but it cost nearly R2500.. Ouch!
