Considering I have cancer I think I'm pretty free to mock it as much as I like. I don't feel very tough at all but you're welcome to sort me out after my next radiation session, I normally feel a little woozy after 30 minutes of getting microwaved in the head. Meet me at Sandton Oncology any morning of the week and punch the skinny guy.

Actually my biggest gripe about the whole cancer thing is having to commute to Sandton through that traffic. I'd much rather do it on my bike but I'm terrified of being hit by taxis or texting drivers. Maybe that's why this guys picture resonates with me.

being a cancer sufferer does not give you the right to poke fun at others.

I am disabled. You think its right for me to go around mocking other folks disability?

Irony is that taxis generally show cyclists more consideration than other road users, that's my experience anyway.

Common experience.

Down here in the Cape taxi drivers along the commuter belt are probably the easiest to understand, they generally signal their intentions and that makes it possible to anticipate their actions.  I have no problem riding amongst taxis along the commuter belt.

Sad portrayal of daily life in JHB. Not a moment goes by when I'm out on my road bike and I dont worry about getting hit from behind. Too many close shaves on main road in Midrand.

What really erks me more is that 94.7 endorses this mindset portrayed in the pic with an exhorbitant prize. Then turn around and say "they didnt choose it". Pathetic head in the sand attitude that just perpetuates the problem. Giving this crude "artwork" light of day just reinforces the attitudes that so many in JHB have towards cyclists.

Taxis driven by black dogs? Doesnt get more politically incorrect than that in SA...

I said I mock cancer. Where did I say I mock people with Cancer? I think Wyatt Earp missed my joke as well. Much like everyone seems to have missed all the other possible meanings of the picture because they were too eager to be offended.

Dude..regardless of how it was meant to interpreted or the multiple interpretations possible...you need to look at it and say how badly could this be misconstrued and we know the answer to that...Cherise Standers response speaks volumes about how it offended. It was in bad taste full stop. Cyclists injuries and deaths are a major problem in this country and if you want to raise awareness then there are better ways to do it

You told us you were boycotting the hub?

Well I must have been dead serious when I said that. I couldn't possibly have been joking about the fact that somebody who has never met me and has no clue what I look like told me to loosen my slacks. I assume he really meant I should loosen the actual pants that I'm wearing because we live in Literal World.

You're right, and I look forward to us all joining forces to get TV ads, political cartoons and paintings banned together to make sure we prevent any possible interpretation of them offending someone. Can't wait to save the ANC youth league from the next Zapiro cartoon.

Well I was going to give the whole shabang a miss, formally anyway. The chaos at registration last year was dehumanising and I am really put off where the new start-finish area is. But that doesn't mean I won't be taking advantage of the closed roads for a bike ride, the route passes about a k from me.

this picture had absolutely nothing in common with political sattire...and if you think that this is sattire then you are grossly misunderstanding what sattire is

No but it has a lot to do with people thinking that they have a right to never be offended.

If something is ethical ,above board and inoffensive there would never be the need to apologise .

Don't ever go watch a Jimmy Carr show. Sorry, I'm not being obnoxious for the sake of it. I just don't like all this political correctness. I srill think people honed in on one thing in this picture and 'chose' to be offended by it. It reminds me of the furore about the two guys that went to a party as the Williams sisters.
