Contador had a 4 - 5 minute lead over astana riders, he did not need to ride at full effort whereas they had to.

Have you got power stats that verify they got stronger, or are u saying that because they were trying harder to get as many riders into the top ten and to bridge the gap to Contador?

A few times during the course of the race he didn't need to attack yet he did. Just because he had a lead does not mean that he let them go. I am sure he would have stayed on their wheels if he could. That's just him.

Weirdest sensation riding on those bikes! I wonder what the people where tjooning him in light of the UCI looking for motors in bicycles.

My point is simple, when I watch Formula One I expect to see Lewis Hamilton up in the front, its not unusual.

When I watch tennis I expect to see Roger Federer on the leaderboard, its not unusual, however, it would be very unusual were I to see Pastor Maldonado leading the next F1 or Marinko Matosevic taking the next Grand Slam in Paris, it just does not follow usual patterns up the ranks, and people, including me, would be asking questions.

Likewise, its no different in Cycling, I expect to see Contador up front fending for the title, its not unusual, he is at the top of the game, it is, however, unusual to see say Tanel Kangert there though - hence the questions.

Anyway, its done, but I thought I would just make a note of it here, that if Contador wins the Tour he would have won 3 Grand Tours in a row - effectively he has already done a double - Vuelta / Giro.

Better choose most of the Astana team in your next TDF fantasy game. At least you can benefit from their doping program as well then

Good thinking, now delete this post before everybody else catches on :)

It was early this morning and had my gloves on... Updated now.

Haha thanks! I read your post about 5 times trying to figure out what you were trying to say!

I had it figured out on the second read through.....................

I think I might be a little too used to poor spelling of the English language by especially non-english speakers.

The Secret Pro doesn't pull any punches in his wrap up of what it was like to ride this years Giro, the insanity of Astana's UCI review and Wiggins hour.

"Quick question: who remembers the good old days of the 1990s and 2000s, a time of fast racing when guys were achieving superhuman feats? Sure it was spectacular to watch but imagine being in that peloton and looking at guys you knew you couldn’t touch because they were, well, superhuman. Do you think we could ever return to those times again?"
