Anyway, that's just one example of the puzzling race tactics from Tinkoff.

And in terms of Astana, lots of whispering now going on with their crazy-strong team dominating all the attacks and pulling the whole peloton around the countryside (esp. considering their dirty history). The last time I saw a team like this was a bunch of 'supermen' sponsored by a certain national postal service  :whistling: .

Yah, nobody knows.... Oleg marches to his own drum!

I was pleased to see Tiralongo win yesterday though, he seldom gets a chance and he is a strong consistent rider. Uran is out of it now but Porte didn't gather any friends yesterday either by grabbing a bit of a free ride, I thought initially they would get the zig with him and attack him, so I was rather surprised to see how they just left him alone. I think that may come back to haunt him later though.

Yes indeed, Astana is raising eyebrows, but, I think they know they are been held under a microscope at the moment and I think they know they need to be on their best behavior. Certainly the way they are riding I expect them to take a prominent seat on more stages and riders occupying those seats are rigorously tested, they would know this so I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt right now.

Someone told me he refuses to share living space with the other rides.. perhaps they fart and snore. Or perhaps he does. .

It is a bit cramped .I would refuse to

And then you see how the football players travel.. and the arme cyclist have to be cramped up.. okay granted the host towns can't always house all the cyclists and tourists.

Porte, Contador, Aru and Uran if he recovers from his poor start and has a good TT are all still in contention so it's going to be a fascinating two weeks.

I would be most worried about Porte if I was in this race. He has done very little and is very well placed.

I don't think it's such a big deal to see Contador without help in the mountains. Help is not as important there where speeds are low and shelter is not as useful. He seems to be well looked after on the flat sections and as has been noted he manages well on his own.

The first Cat1 climb will tell us a lot in the next week. Going to be Epic. (I am allowed to say Epic I hope)

Isn't Uran the strongest TTer of those? If so, over 60km, a lot of time can be made up!

Honestly, I don't think Contador doesnt need help in the mountains, he rides on the wheels of the guys he marks, he will do this all day until he bursts. I actually cant remember when last I saw him being paced up a climb, its not his style. Porte is more a paced rider, but I'm not sure he has the support to get paced this year.

Yes he is.. 60km TT.. a whole lot of time can be made up

I think that is why bert and Aru worked together the other day to gain more time on Uran.

Good point, Gen

Uran Uran somehow failed to fire in Week 1

Really wanted him to show up.

On the other hand, 'Bert's very experienced domestique deluxe in Mick Rogers says, in a press release, that it's the hardest week 1 of a Grant Tour he's ever done.  :nuke:  :nuke:  :nuke:

Does anyone want to join my game. . Pick a winner.. but there are rules. . You aren't allowed to pick a favourite and must be done no later than at 20km to go, highest placed finisher gets bragging rights[emoji13] ... I won't be home to see the end. . So I will commit now.. Manual Belletti

I read in a preview article for todays stage that they expecting it be Griepels last day in the tour... Matthews is also expected to drop out this week so the sprinters jersey will come down to Viviani and Nizzolo

My choice then goes with Nizzolo as Trek have built there Giro team around him, and sky will be protecting Richie...

Well, since I can't nominate Greipel, I would say Nizollo from Trek.

I hope so, Nizzolo needs a grand tour victory
