Aru is proven to be horrific at TTing

'Bertie will sleep like a well-fed baby

Good to hear. Was getting worried that my favourate might not win....

Agreed. Berto got this.

Yeah, not going to worry Tinkoff or 'Berto, lots of formalities for the jersey wearer after the stage and 'Berto will be in his hotel room with his feet up. Plus of course Aru is not known for his TT ability.

I think it will be a short lived affair for Aru in Pink, but it just shows how quickly things can change, in the blink of an eye almost!

If I was Porte I would just jump on a plane and join Chris in Tenerife for some training. Sky has someone else up in GC at the moment anyway.

I agree, but after the TT..

100%. You want the GC guys to duke it out and even if they are off the pace then still give it a go but Ritchie's game has gone now. Sky messed up a bit tactically yesterday by bringing Koning back to help Porte. He was 10th on the GC and looking good, he's now only 2 spots higher than Ritchie & 4:30 odd and the best placed 'borg

I'd be very surprised if a top World Tour pro will ever be seen 'giving up' if a race doesn't go their way. They would never have made it to where they are today if they had an attitude like that. That's not in their nature. Besides that, consider that they're also just one cog in the team cassette. They've got team obligations. And then there's also the bigger picture in terms of sponsor obligations, race organisers, etc. They can't just quit. They'll keep riding until someone has to physically pull them off their bike. That's how it's always been And if someone does just quit like that, he'll lose the respect of his team and the rest of the peloton as well. And me too.

Porte can TT. I wouldn't write him off just yet. Could easily still make top 5 and could make podium. He is a machine on the steep climbs.

Apparently he banged his knee up in that crash yesterday. Today will tell us how bad that injury is.

AC's knee too in the crash yesterday, plus cutting his leg on someone else's chainring in the fall. Not sure how bad it was, but he was icing it right after the stage. He must be living on anti-inflammatories at the moment.

He can ride 20km with a broken leg in the Tour and then win the Vuelta a few weeks later with a bit of "disco tape" strapped on it. Winning the Giro with a little inflamation should be a breeze. ;)

To all you naysayers there is a good chance Porte and Uran will bounce right back.

If they rode straight in to a jumpingcastle for the kids behind the finishing area... Sure they'le bounch right back.

So looks like that injury of Porte is holding him back - way down on time at an early split already.

This is Porte's Giro d'Isaster....
