Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Had one yesterday... riding mate's derailleur exploded halfway through our ride. Bottom jockey wheel came flying off, and his RD is toast - all the pins are eroded to the point that you can jiggle it about 3 to 4 mm without the spring being activated... He managed to find the jockey and the metal outer rollers (bearing covers) and had a spare valve locknut in his pack (really!?) out came my cable ties (those things fix everything) and I fed the bearing covers (those metal things you see here) with the locknut inbetween them on to the cable tie and through the cage. Hey presto - immediate lower roller, in place of the jockey wheel. Just so happens that that is just the right width for the chain. Only thing is his cable was completely shot as well, so he was running in 9th gear and only had the 3 rings in the front to shift with. That's not a problem though as e were on a walking up mission yesterday.
