I'd love to get a written off car from Crash Flash, position it at a busy intersection where it is very visible and fake a bicycle/car accident scene complete with fake blood and put up a sign that says "Cyclists don't kill motorists.

Just a pitty that the Justice system is failing us

My wife and I cycled past the accident shortly after it happened. One of the saddest sights I have seen in a long time. Helmet lying on the other side of the road about 50m away, bike lying on the ground, hit from behind and Johan (I did not know him) in the middle of the road, no shoes......................his cycling buddy in tears trying to call his family............

 

The rescue people told me it was a white Nissan/Datsun bakkie with three occupants in front, they left the scene but the registration number was known and photographed.

To answer your biggest questions... finding the @$##%# who drove off has not been the highest priority right now. We are focusing on the kids and his wife at the moment.

Your condolences means a lot to us and I will carry those to his wife.

Hi all, I'm not really a cycler but hold cyclers dear to my heart as my father is a cycler First of all, our sincere condolence to Johan and his wife as well as his friend that was with him yesterday. We were the second people at the scene where we found Johan lying in the road. I saw something about an Isuzu bakkie in one of the posts earlier, that was the poor guy who chased the Nissan one tonner who knocked Johan and his friend.

He managed to get the registration number before the Nissan bakkie went into Fisantekraal where the guy in the Toyota turned around. He did give all the photos and info to the police.

I saw the other cyclers who passed there and could see you were heartbroken when you had to drive pass Johan laying in the road.

I was terrebly angry and also feel that justice should be served!!

Once again my heart goes out to Johan's family and friends.

Its really sickening... i was in an argument with someone i know through my uncle... He told me straight to my face if we are on the road we are looking to get killed! I was sooo shocked, he even said they (motorist) will NEVER respect any cyclists on the roads as we DONT BELONG THERE... and if we also have a yearly paid licence as cars only then can they start to respect us.... i was like WTF does the licence got to do with killing someone.... 

 

Im at a point where i would take law into my own hands if someone hits me with their car....i had it !!!

PPA have acknowledged the request for a minute of silence at the start of the One Tonner. It has been sent to the relevant people.

if the driver of the vehicle has been arrested, i think the passengers should follow the same route, arrest them as well. They were part and parcel of a crime that was committed and if they did not report it, they were defeating the ends of justice....
