Patchelicious Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Yeah but that's because Spartacus is the King of Cycling Cool. Such a pity we won't get to see him light up today's stage. Hopefully Zbar will animate the race today and sneak in a win!No BUTS!
Bianchisti Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Brief moment? He always elbows someone, not always intentionally though, it's that crazy style of his. I reckon the bunch ride far away from him to avoid those skinny elbows Murder Weapons.[emoji23]
Butterbean Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 You guys are strange sometimes. If it had been contador instead of froome who did what they did yesterday, you would all be wetting yourselves with excitement over "real racing". Froome was a machine up the Mur, he fought with those skinny elbows to get out front. Mr convicted doper contador couldn't even hold his wheel on that short climb. Froome left him so easily! I doubt they planned to get the yellow jersey this early and will no doubt want it off their backs quite quickly, but I think you all need to stand up and give froome some credit for yesterday's display. Dude was pure power!!!

Cav' Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 OK, question for the knowledgeable ones... what is irregular feeding ? (taken from sky thread)Each stage has a feeding station along the way, at which riders will grab a musette from someone working for their team standing on the side of the road. The bags contain things like energy bars/gels/sandwiches and drinks. Irregular would be eating outside of the designated zone or time of day. Meaning riders can't grab a 150mg caffeine gel on the last climb as he'll have an advantage over his competitors.
tombeej Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Elbows are normal part of racing, esp. when stopping from getting yourself boxed in. You should see the sprinters, they're much worse! Better a shoulder or elbow nudge than a touch of handlebars.

You just not allowed to take on board food from the support car wherever you like. Take the food in the zone, put it in your pocket and eat later if you wish
Wez-O Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I've always been a massive fan of Fabulous Fabian aka Spartacus, but yesterday he put in perhaps the bravest performance of his career and one of the most inspirational I've ever witnessed in any sporting event.Watching him bury himself to hang onto the back of the peloton and laboring up the Muur de Hul while honouring the yellow jersey throughout was nothing short of inspirational... And all that was before we found that he did all this with a broken back. Today I take my hat off to a legend of the sport and say RESPECT! http://nnimgt-a.akamaihd.net/transform/v1/crop/frm/storypad-cEhczfdf7xzEKFmkduwWkH/9a5053f3-615a-472e-a8d8-eaa9f3a1fcaa.jpg/r0_0_1200_675_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

Dude was pure power!!! Froome clearly follows the Hub, not long ago people were COMPLAINING that he is boring. Yesterday I saw him use his elbows twice on different occasions and both times could clearly see what he was thinking.... "Take that hub critics" Granted its not pretty and sometimes looks like a praying mantis fighting a bicycle....but hell it works

But critics are going to critic.

Better a shoulder or elbow nudge than a touch of handlebars. Imagine doing this at 70 km/h in the final sprint. Robbie McEwen was a bit of a terror in his day - didn't take any s~~t when it was time to fight for his gap to the line...
Gen Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Ja nee. Those sprinters ate a different breed altogether.
Gen Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I am sitting here waiting for the start of the stage.. the clock is def on Belgium time, it's taking forever to get to start time.
khm4252 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Looking at the pictures of the crash yesterday and recalling the video replays, it makes me sick to my stomach. Makes me nervous to ride this weekend. Just a quick feedback: DSTV on the ball and changed SS4 on the Drifta to SS6 so we can watch the Tour. Kudos to them!
