Hens Teeth, Clamp-On Frame Cable Stop

Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to where I could pick up a double clamp-on frame cable stop in Cape Town?

I like a fool, ground off one of the cable stops on my commuter build, thinking I would never install a front derailleur on it...

Attached is a picture of the clamp-on frame cable stop I was thinking would best work, all other cable stops and guides are in tact currently.

I have also included a picture of the commuter too for those that are interested:)

Thanks Ray,

That is what I am looking for, but the double clamp variant. I found them one in my attached image on Wantitall and Importitall, but wanted to try and trawl locally before I ordered via these channels.

Are there no specialist bike stores left that would stock these type of arbitrary parts?

What ever happened to Soloped Cycles In Bree Street? That shop always had wierd and wonderful stuff.

They moved to Bothasig. Used to love rummaging in the bins at Soloped.

Aah, the clamp pic didn't load the first time round...

Sho, I unfortunately have not been in the cycling game for long enough to know, but hopefully with some bumping the right person will spot this.

@javadude, found them online again, may have to take a ride out to the Sig to see what they have if I don't get a reply to the email I sent them.

@Ray hence the reason for my nudge, after no responses since I posted.

Try Naas at Evobikes - he stocks the Problemsolvers range, which I'm pretty sure includes something like this. Otherwise Rush Sports may be able to sort out something from the Wheels Manufacturing range.

Ag nooit, shows you how blind I am, spotted them the other day and even commented to my wife, "oh look a bicycle shop"... Blind!

I no understand, why you need a front derailleur again?

are you spinning out on the flats or burning up steep hills?

Ray, that would be awesome and much appreciated :) Requirement is for a 28.6mm diameter clamp with dual cable stops.

I live in Gardens so everything I ride is a hill plus the chain kept popping off the centre chain and I did not want to just install a non-functioning derailleur.

The clamp on one is 1st prize.  What about welding a new one on?

I already enquired about welding onto the frame, but the place I went to only had serious welding equipment that would burn a hole right through the frame. If someone knows of someone that has welded frames successfully (think they braze not weld) I will most certainly consider it.

Nooit man, I have commuted on my 1 x 1 to many a site at the top of Oranjezight .... man up :P

Have you made sure that the chain has been shortened sufficiently in order to reduce slack?

Are you running a ramped chain ring, SS ring or NW ring?

You also get decent looking chain top guides that would function as a front Der would.

Either the above or go SS :)

Not sure about the chain or rings, the bike has been put together on a shoestring budget. Everything works well enough just want the bike to look neat and aesthetically pleasing. I want to see the bicycle build through to completion before I start any other projects :)

This is my current set up (9spd) and with a std ramped front ring. I took the roller guide off and am just running the top guide for now ... has worked well and the taco at the bottom helps when smacking into things.

Otherwise the set up is as per the last pic
