Hi All,

I'm sure this has been posted a few times so happy to be redirected to the correct page.

Anyone have any experience with converting a 26 inch Shova to a 650b. Was it successful and how did you do it? Any issues to be aware off?

Have the frame sitting in my store room and thought I could put it to better use.

Thanks.

Sacrilege.... If it doesn't work out I'll take it off your hands and ride it as a 26". Just saying.....

Not sure if it will be the same with the Shova, but with the Zula it's possible, although it leaves very little tyre clearance when done. You'll probably have to use skinny tyres, so I'd rather just put wider, bigger volume 26" tyres on :)

Not a chance. I already buzz the cable stop on mine with big tyres, so unless you want to run 1.9 slicks you're out of luck.

And if you do decide to run 1.9 slicks on a Shova, there are a number of people on this forum who will hunt you down.

EDIT: You could do it if you got the shock travel reduced by about 5mm...

That's an mbuzi :whistling: Embarrassing for the shop who just did the conversion...especially since it says mbuzi on the top tube.

Ah i see now, did not look closely at the pics... and yes an embarrassment for the shop

You could just do a DIY 650b sidegrade, use nice big 26" 2.4 tyres, you'll get 650b/lower rolling resistance and comfort all in one, win/win in my books!

With a spacer. I have one on my desk.

Sooo....can one assume that you can then run a decent volume rear takkie in the frame safely.

Have you guys by anychance seen any older version 26" pikes running a 650B wheel with decent rubber on?
