Nothing wrong with Specialized really, but they do have a bit of an image problem and the fact that instead of having a bike shop they have "concept stores" doesn't help, it is a bit pretentious.

Pyga now has a concept store

Back in the day Specialized offered value for money, since the fame and all it brings has gone to Mike's head, prices have changed and its now gotten to the point were you really are buying into the brand, the whole brand. I miss Specialized when it was a small brand and nobody really knew what they were up to, today they got concept stores etc, its all gone to CHINA as far as I'm concerned!

I have spent good money on Spez in the past, and I doubt I ever will in the future. BUT:

They make great bikes in every single category. Imagine this basement:

Jump bike: P3

Race Hardtail: Stumpjumper S Works

Race Full Sus: Epic SW

Trail AM : Enduro SW

Downhill: Demo 8 carbon

I for one will not be complaining.

Now I only need half a Bar.....( which I'll spend on any brand except Spez)

Just to balance this thread a bit - this pic shows why being a Spazzie is so popular :-)http://www.acultureofspeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/SpecializedMTB.jpg

Rubbish, he doesn't have the gloves.

Exactly, but since when do we let the truth ruin a good rant? ;)

People hate Spez because it's popular, few of the justifications for the hatred in this have held water.

Hatred is too strong a term here, it implies you are spending (?wasting) precious mental energy on ruminating about something or other. My attitude towards Spez is more one of passionate indifference. And I'm big enough to admit lusting after the (made in USA) limited edition lugged steel road frame they recently sold on ebay.
