We are in agreement, yes. The "hoohaa" in question is justified.

My point is that they should've fixed the features without a big "hoohaa" being necessary. I thought that it was common decency to leave the trails in the state that you found it.

I think he's asking why there has to be one before something gets done...

Sorry, I misread the post

Surely if you use someone else's trails you use them for the features they have, you don't change it so that they suit your needs. The problem with changing trails is that they cant always be repaired that easily. It sometimes takes months for a piece of trail to be "ridden in" properly again. A response from ASG around about now would be good.

1000% correct. Especially in Cape Town right now. It's the height of Summer and anything built now will quickly turn to dust. So best case scenario it will be 6 months before those features can be repaired properly.

As someone who's done a bit of building I can tell you it's really disheartening when people break or modify features you've spent hours building to suit themselves.

I enjoyed the race and that is what counts for me.

If there are other issues that ARE BEYONED MY CONTROL then i let it be and the organisers must sort it out.

Bottlom line, if this event is going to take place next year, then i will be back.

Let's get ASG's response to the OP's post. If they are wrong and acted in the manner that was pointed out, then ASG are working against MTB'ing in the Western Cape.

If this is to be the case, would you still support them next year?

We are collating all the facts and will then reply.  If an undertaking was made to repair sections of the trail to what it was before it will be done (please consider the race was on Sunday and it is Tuesday morning now - the team is actually still out cleaning up).  We invite anyone that feel unhappy to contact our race director directly (he actually lives in Paarl and will be open to meet with anyone feeling aggrieved) - we will do our utmost to resolve any issues but obviously prefer (and think it will be more constructive) to do that face to face and not online at this stage...rest assured that all necessary approvals were obtained in advance.

Don't get me wrong, I am not attacking you as a person or meaning to generalise but responses like this is the reason this country is the way it is. If it makes me happy and I enjoy my ride (or what ever) I don't care about the effort that went into something or repercussions some stupid actions might have. Pretty sad that this is the way the cycling community is starting to become!

WTF??

Easy, a race of this magnatude, started by the mayor of Paarl would not have taken place if appropriate arrangements was not made.

You cannot tell me for one second that if any party objected to this race taking place at any area of this trail, that it would still have taken place?

I do think that all the facts are not on the table, and as ASG mentioned, let the relevant parties that were INVOLVED WITH ARRANGING THE RACE meet and iron any issues out.

There is a statistical probability that you are part of the majority who complain about the increased lawlessness in the country and insist that "something must be done about it" yet see this as somone else's responsibility.

Here, on the face of it, is evidence of trespassing, malicious damage to property and breach of contract.

It is NOT outside your control.

Align yourself with the land owners and course builders, tell the race organisers you reject their actions and that you will not attend any of their events until they have provided restitution.

Otherwise you remain part of the problem.

I am a memebr of various forums in different formats, and i must admit, this is the one forum that lives around assumptions, bitching, moaning, growling, e.t.c...

Please do yourself a favour, and read some of the trheads on this forum and you will soon realise that this forum is fuelaed by moaning, speculation, assumptions, and the like.

You sir, do not know me, so you cannot ASSUME ( Again, assumption )that i am part of the statistics.

This tread will continue for pages and pages of ranting and moaning untill everyone is board of this, or untill the organisers come back with constructive facts.

As a rule I do not engage in a battles of wit with unarmed people, but for you I will make an exception.

First, as part of the population you are "part of the statistics" whether you like it or not.

Second, re-read your post above and once you have mastered such basics as grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalisation, etc we can move on to advanced topics such as reasoning, debate and morality.

Call me when you are ready, right now you are missing the point.
