Hannele Steyn caught up with Hanlie Booyens ... goosebumps

This is where the race is at for the moment. Then the 6 back markers trying to stay together for as long as possible.

She should be good for the win, but I do get the impression that the race for 2nd might just cut that rest a little short.

I don't think she will rest more than an hour, but we will see.

Ya Ntuli showed us how its done.

I'm hoping his win sparks something of a revolution in the townships. With Quebeka already doing good work, I'm hoping the demand for Quebeka bikes and more quality riders start emerging from the townships. How many farmhands or labourers do you see riding to work everyday? They frikken kcik ass on their cobbled together fro spare parts "junks". Give them an opportunity....

Future of SA cycling is very bright if we can tap into the talent

Something to think about. If HS had not had the detour adding an unnecessary 140 odd km's she would have been finishing now all the rest being equal.

being able to follow the route is one of the required skills. No one else to blame there I'm afraid.

You also can't say that Amy wouldn't have pushed harder if hanele had caught up

Consider the challenge ahead for the posse of 6 at the back, currently they're at 720km with race village 4 75km away, by my estimate they should get there about midnight, Let's say they have a 6 hour kip and leave at 6am tomorrow with their next target Tankwa Padstal (935km) by my estimate that take about 12 hours meaning that they'll arrive there 18h00 tomorrow. Leaving them with 18 hours to do 155km so they can't stay at Tankwa for more than 4 hours. It's gonna be toight!

I was getting very sad and started feeling sorry for the last 6 guys. However I just looked again at the rules and they have until Monday at 12pm to finish. According to the rules it is 5 days or 120 hours to complete. They did start on Wednesday at 12pm, did they not?

I am so pleased price money for the men and ladies are the same. The way these ladies are racing is just as exiting and full of suspense as the men's race was. They are holding nothing back.

That's what my calc is based on, but looking at their recent progress they'll get to RV4 after midnight, which means 4 hours sleep max.
