This is just awful. Marius, our thoughts and prayers for a speeding recovery go out to you. Wayne, keep the faith my friend. Now, even more so, I am thinking that trail riding is the only "safe" option, with respect to not getting knocked by cars...I am seriously staying off the jeep tracks and gravel roads for now. I was part of a group that also very nearly got klapped by a lunatic in his 4x4 in Koeberg nature reserve a while ago. This oke just came blasting around a bend in the reserve at full speed covered in a cloud of dust, entering the road literally 2 meters ahead of the guy in the front of our small group of riders. Nowhere is safe anymore. I was not even aware that 4x4's are allowed on Koeberg's trails.

When people stop speeding

People need to open their bloody eyes, pay more attention on blind corners and check all their blind spots. If you are an aware driver, and ultra observant you will seldomly ever get involved in an accident, let alone knock people over.

Cellphones, general ignorance and lack of awareness is more the problem than speeding. Speeding is more a result of general ignorance.

I'm with you on this one Surv0. Speeding is not the root cause of the issue. In the past 2 days I've had 3 close calls. Yesterday I went for a quick 90 minute ride after work and some ninja cut a blind corner I was coming round in a quiet neighbourhood. Had to swerve to not end up in a head on. (Can't imagine what would've happened if I was actually a car????) 10 minutes later I'm just getting over that and some middle age mom driving an Audi A3 almost T bones me as she comes cruising through a traffic light that had been red for her for easily 3 seconds already. I was taking off from the side of the intersection that had just turned green but had to grab a handful of both brakes to make sure I did not cross into her path as she simply cruised through the red. Major plus that 200m further down the road she gets stuck in peak traffic and I roll up next to her. She wouldn't even look at me let alone respond to what I said to her...

This morning I'm commuting to work and pushing hard along one stretch. Driver comes slowly alongside me gets about half a car length in front of me and decides to pull over and park on the left. Had to swerve left with the car and hop onto the pavement to avoid the sideswipe. Stop and engage the driver and it's like you're interacting with a zombie. No signs of remorse but little signs of life either...

None of these incidents were in any way speeding. ALL of them had drivers staring at the screen of their phones driving with one hand!

Marius, heal up real kick and hoping for a full recovery!

Tonight there was a roadblock on Wellington road just past Graanendal. We had to dodge all the freaking taxi bombing down Spesbona avoiding the roadblock. Not Ayoba
