Had the privilege of riding with Yusran for a while during the Coronation Double Century this weekend, he was on his Mercer and I was on the Ritchey. It was quite cool to be on steel bikes surrounded by all of the carbon....

Bud your bike is gorgeous. I am so glad that it turned out the way that it did.

Hi all,

been following on here for a while, must say there are some great looking bikes.  I am thinking of making some changes to my steel hardtail 29er.  what are the challenges when going from a flat bar to a road drop bar with STI levers, if the current set-up is normal mtb set-up?

Getting your hands into the same position in the drops as you are with MTB bar (or as close as possible).

Ok - after a general lack of anything CX/ gravelgrind happening for me of late, I have something in the pipeline. Nothing uber shoot the lights out blingy Ti amazeballs - but just what I need... Something simple, perhaps re-visiting an eX... see what I did there?

Can't wait... It's been too long.

Monark - did you ultimately sell your X and Swiss Cross?

(I just wish my finances would stabilise so I could get going on a gravel-grinder project, and stop window-shopping and fantasising!)

I was very reluctant to get rid of either to be honest. The X is so nimble and just begs to be pedalled. Mine was a great vibrant orange with some classy Paul stickers on it. The Ritchey is well, a Ritchey... enough cannot be said about that frame.

Both are sadly gone. The X has a very interesting life ahead of it. From sea to forest so to speak. More about that later.

The Ritchey is already tearing up the dirt roads of KZN.

Both are going to be ridden and that is what counts.

My new-to-me but second hand frame is being built by Chainworx at the moment. Sean and Jono are doing their thing. I am excited. The axle conversion kit from American Classic has slightly delayed things.
