Building a Cyclo Cross bike

Right...

Shifters, stem and seat post have all arrived.

Bad news... looks like I might have been scammed... user Love2cycle had advertised an SRAM XO ten speed rear derailleur for sale. I got chatting to him over email. He seemed legit. I paid. Guess what... no part... I am emailing and PM'ing him and there is no response... how annoying... This will put me back.

Okay rear derailleur arrived after many emails. Seems as if the seller was on leave. My crank (50/34 105 Shim), front derailleur (Shim) and bar tape (orange Lizard Skin) arrive this week.

Now for bars and tubes

Getting there Monark, not time for some pikshas yet?

I must say and yes I know it's not a cycloX bike but when I built this I was just gonna use it when we were away on camping holidays but I find myself riding it every now and then just for the fun of it. The 105 RD I used didn't last long .... maybe I was just a bit ham fisted with the shifting but anyway I have now replaced it with an XT and so far so good!

I'm happy with my Schwalbe Marathon Supremes for that sort of application. If there's more gravel/ dirt involved then Smart Sams.

Your bike looks awesome!! Those takkies are what I think I would like to roll on. What weight is your ride? My mtb I'd fully rigid with very thin tyres, so my biggest benefit would be the weight difference.

I have no idea, I am not in the habit of weighing my bikes but it for sure is NOT light ....

Bar, bar tape and tubes on their way from Grant Usher. I settled on the Salsa Cowbell 3. My SRAM Red compact crank is also on its way from JHB.

I will hopefully take some pictures this weekend and start building it next week.

I still need to sell my single speed!
