What about the mavic crossmax XL WTS? (wheel tyre system). It's available locally, but unfortunately it includes the tyres. The new hubs sound and look amazeballs.

From an ease of use with tubeless set up, Stans rims are the best I have tried, bar a proper UST rim. The Flow EX's in 27.5 should be easy to find here.

I'd go against the grain and get me a set of the Light Bicycle rims. Hook less bead, 35mm wide and reportedly as strong as feck. Then get either William of Williams Bike Shop (slumerset west), Lance (Epic Bike Shop, constantia) or Wyatt to build them up.

Mavic naming system. First number is the hierarchy, second 2 are the width. So the 317 would be entry level, 17mm wide.

 

Xc would be xc (duh)

 

Xm is marathon

 

En is enduro

they are about 150grams lighter than the Flows.

The Rapide rims are only 21mm internal,a bit lower than the other rims mentioned.
