Ride with someone better than you and follow what they do, then ride with someone better than them................because now they are rubbish and you can ditch them, ha, ha!

Best is join a local club ride ... you'll get those skills as time past! And with that youll get your fitness up also, read up on training plans etc. It all will take time to get you there and the smarter you train the faster you'll get there! Either way... just enjoy it!

Firstly, never ever panic.

Rome wasn't built in one day.

Just remember ,everything you do in life takes practice, don't rush it and the skill will come.

Anything you ride will up your skills, don't be afraid to try new things such as lifting your front wheel on to a pavement or riding though thick sand.

Northern Farms is always a great and safe place to hone those skills.

If I may.... If you want to work on skills, leave the GPS / stop watch at home. Go out, and have fun. Vice versa for fitness. Maybe it's just me, but the second I take my hrm and GPS it's an all out time trial!

Once you can look at your riding critically you on the right path to improving.

Of all the improvements fitness is the easiest to conquer but it takes effort and TITS.

For me if I can't measure it I can't improve it, find a goal a hill or a specific route go cycle it and work on beating that time, else you'll improve with every ride but have no idea that you are or by how much.

Northen farms is a good place to practice, you can push decent distance there and the black routes will help you with your skills.

Otherwise Avianto, Red Barn and Mulddersdrift are also all pretty cool places to ride, they are short on distance but more technical thank northan farms. They also have chicken runs at all technical sections
