Garmin 500 or 510

I looking at getting one of the above but not sure if the 510 is worth the extra R1400. Apart from the colour screen and being able to upload your rides via your phone are there any other benefits?

I was faced with the same question earlier this year & chose the 500. I'm very happy with the device & it does what it says on the tin.

 

A mate has the 510 & I think the big difference not advertised is that the 510 offers a number of functions on screen that you need a PC with Garmin Connect for on the 500. I haven't done a feature by feature comparison but eg graphs like elevation gain, speed and summary data in general is better on 510.

I got the 510 after a long deliberation over both of them. Couldn't be happier with it. My dad with his 500 is even jealous. 

 

Definitely not saying one is better than the other though. It is definitely personal preference and budget related, but for me the 510 is awesome.

If you got a 500 its not worth the upgrade. If a new purchase then get a 510. I have the 510 and the additional features makes my life just so much easier.
