Dammit. How is that for bad luck! Watch out for the third strike. It might be even worse.

This is the second time I broke the same collarbone - last time was in a motorbike accident.

When I went back to work my sister's now ex-boyfriend worked a few blocks from my office so I just went with him, and literally not even 2m from where I had the bike accident we were in a bumper bashing that first morning, needless to say, I've never gone back to that spot for a third time to tempt fate... ;) :P

Feel your pain... my collarbone and 4 broken ribs earlier this month...

Damn, that's a nasty break.

Thought this thread would be for the dorks going to work tomorrow

The things I do to get leave in December... ;)

I sadly haven't had a chance to bliksem off the bike as I haven't been able to ride the last 2 weeks.

Struggling with a tight chest and suffering with bad head / ear aches :-(

I think we would all happily have traded... ;)

Day 2 of my holiday. ... freak fall on my bike resulted in a shattered wrist ... 1 plate, 7 pins and a not-so-fashionable accessory I will be wearing for my entire holiday . ..

Ouch...good luck with that, breaking my elbow was the worst thing ever, physio is something I never would want to go through again if I can help it. They initially said I wouldn't get full movement back, I refused to accept that, and through a lot of crying, swearing, and wanting to be ill, they pushed me and I have full use now, do whatever you have to so you can get back to riding.

Looking at these pics, I'm rather glad that I'm safe behind my pc at work. (Although I did ride in an hour later than usual, and am leaving at 3 to do a quick 2 hours after "work").

You gotta think best-case-scenario ... always!

Besides. .. nothing ever goes wrong in Somerset West right ...

Yup - nothing exciting ever happens in the old age home that is SSW ;)

Except now that the up country invasion is in full swing it's crazy out there. Avoid the beach, and the mall!

Happy trails folks! Be safe.

That looks hectic!

Believe it or not this is cycling related. My daughters bike slipped from its hanger in the garage and fell on my car causing this. Bummer.

Eina! At least you can do a Robocop impersonation now...

Makes me feel happy just to have the normal aches and pains that come with high mileage cycling!

:-)

That's closer to the truth for me ;)

I just had the plate removed in May this year from the last time I broke my colloarbone and when I told my boss I was going in for that his response was, "Oh no, now I can't think of you as RoboCop anymore" to which I said, "Don't worry, we both know I'll land up with some more 'metal' in me soon" - damn I hate always being right ;)

... cycling is clearly not for sissies ... you might think your MTB is domesticated .. but never show fear or turn your back on it .... even in the safety of your own garage :-))

After reading and posting on the December 2014 Holiday Ride Pics - Where had your bike taken you whilst on holiday? thread, I thought we needed a thread to 'show off' damage to ourselves and our bikes that has occurred over the holiday period.

To start off, Saturday 13 December, snapped the rear derailleur on my road bike.

attachicon.gifIMG_0350.JPG

Tuesday, 16 December, snapped my collarbone (again) and other less substantial damage going down with the MTB.

I hope everybody else is able to keep themselves and their bikes in one piece...don't follow my examples ;)

Broke my rear derailleur yesterday. Cage broke (some time back from the look of I) , bent into the spokes, tore the derailleur into 2, bent the hanger 45 degrees and wobbled the wheel. Not possible to repair the hanger (Litespeed specific) will take I don't know how long to get new one, or have new one machined. Campy 10 speed derailleur not available before January, not even from Father Christmas. Wheel can be straightened easily. I was lucky not to come off as it happened in the traffic, rear wheel locked solid and I did an impressive 10 metre + rear wheel slide , a-la-fixie style.

Still very happy to have broken kit rather than bones! Heal quickly all you unlucky ones!

Sounds very similar to what happened when I snapped my rear dérailleur. Hanger was bent as well and the rear wheel gobbled everything up, luckily I wasn't in traffic but I was climbing a hill so didn't have much speed and only just managed to un-cleat without falling.

I apparently was not happy with just breaking kit, I had to visit the hospital as well :P

If those superstitions are to be believed, things are supposed to happen in 3's, so the hospital trip was inevitable. ;)

Friday morning, following my sister and I fell over her when she went down - only rock for 300m any direction and she hit it :P

Saturday morning, snapped the dérailleur.

Tuesday morning, snapped the collarbone.

The worst part about all the free time now is I can't even go ride;)
