Scott spark 920 or bergamont fastlane 9.4

I do not know much about the fastlane, I have a revox 5.3 2013 model. Yes I know it's entry level, but imho I got WAAAAAY more bike for my buck than going with "mainstream" brands. So, if that is anything to go by, Bergamont is not a bad choice. Mine is pretty tough, since I weigh 112kg at present, and throw it at everything the Tygerberg MTB trails have got, and it has not once let me down. NOT ONCE!!! That says a lot in my books. I just last week coverted to tubeless, and it is even better now. Solid bike from a solid company.

The Spark has a reputation to Crack. Just do a search and you will see numerous threads about this. You are obviously protected by a warranty, so this may not be an issue for you.

Bergamont is a brand owned by BMC, but comes in at a cheaper price point.

Ignoring the Sparks tendenCy to crack, I would still go Bergamont. Better looking and you will stand out from the crowd (I prefer something different, Scott's have become too popular)

The rear triangle on the Spark 920 is aluminium and not carbon, the carbon ones seems to crack....

The 2015 Spark 910 has also been "re-introduced" with an alu rear triangle...

Still love the Scott brand, sorry, I'm a bit biased,,,,,

I ride a Scott Scale 920

And this is why you should get the Giant;

Resale value for the Bergamont would be much less compared to Giant or Scott.

And you don’t want a sub brand....

Gaint Anthem X Adv. vs Scott Spark 920

Gaint better groupset – full Xt

Gaint better Fork and Shock – Fox Float CTD Factory Kashima vs Fox Evolution that’s stanchions need to be replaced after 4 months (little bit overstated) of road riding at a cost of R3 500

Giant wheels weigh less (thus don’t need to upgrade them) – 1750gram vs 1900g (if I have to take a guess)

Giant frame should be more reliable?

Gaint R40 900 at Ceres cycles.

Or for 48k +- you can get a Vipa- and CWC have a Full Xt Santa Cruz in size M for 55k.

Contact Kings cycles Worcester. They might have a Spark 910 for a couple of grand above your target price. (this bike already comes with Snakeskin tyres)!

Lekker shopping.

It is almost Chrismas

I'd pick the bike made by the Swiss

:-)

But Nino is Swiss and he rides Scott?

Anything but the Scott, mine died this morning, cracked the aluminium frame chain stay. It's been an amazing bike to ride, but would never be able to ride it again and not stress every time I hit an obstacle.

Or just do yourself a favour and get a Specialized Camber Comp Carbon.

You'll be just as fast as on the Scott/Bergamont, but you'll be a whole lot more comfortable and confident on the descents.

Or just get a TREK Superly FS 9.

SRAM X01 and XT brakes and a SID fork. R37000.

Northcliff cycles has it in stock.

Or they still have a 2014 also, same spec except full XT 2x10 drivetrain.
