Okay thanks so far. I got cramp eze calcium and magnesium some time ago and thought it is an instant solution like Pexola is, you drink it and 30mins later problem solved. I have taken one now and will take one tonight and carry on. I would rather go for a more natural approach than Pexola.

If Im not mistaken Pexola is also used for Parkinsons disease treatment. That is a concern to me. Is this not like a warning sign for what might come in future?

Hi there. It is my opinion and advice that you might want to try a Calcium and Magnesium supplement. I buy a supplement from Clicks (Clicks Healthbasics) called calcium complete and when my body feels depleted, usually after a hard day/ride, I take two in the evening after my meal before I go to sleep and find it helps to settle my body and legs.

I am not an expert but I do think there is some merit to the cold/ice water thing. One of the symptoms I have after hard rides and in bed at night is that my legs feel hot and restless even if they are cool to the touch. Therefore, maybe some time in a cool/ice water bath would help bring down the core temperature of the legs??? Not sure though, just thinking out aloud...

Anyway, perhaps try both suggestions and see if either work? Hope you come right as I know that lying in bed at night unable to sleep can be very frustrating! Ciao.

I do something very similar, but before my ride I take a high quality multi - mineral and omega 3 capsule.

I normally don't take another after the ride unless it's been an exceptionally hard ride.

I have it very mildly on some evenings but after a very hard exercise session (run or ride) I get it bad. I can still sleep but my sleep is very disrupted. I always drink a recovery drink etc after the event so i replace a lot of my lost salts...but...the best thing I have found is a half sleeping tablet

Does sleeping pills not hamper performance?

perhaps look into your nutrition a bit more.

like taking a recovery drink after a hard ride, some cramp blocker (before, during and after) and slow mag during the week for maintenance.

Do you also get cramps? I went through a stage of hectic RLS but I used Calmag and that seemed to help. It wasn't an instant fix tho.

I had RLS when I was younger because of some meds I was on - I didnt know what it was & thought it was just me. I used to get out of bed & jump around like a crazy person a few times a night.

I wouldnt wish it on anyone! Good luck.

This. I now take magnesium daily. I even used to have this during the day randomly while sitting... Drove my wife crazy. After about a week of magnesium, the problem is gone.

I took another route. I got rid of the wife. Hahaha.

Seriously tho The RLS used to drive my wife bonkers. The Calmag powder deff helped for me but it took about 2 weeks to kick in.

because 2 weeks is all it takes to see your nails growing twice as fast xD that's right, been drinking these calcium magnesium for a few months.

I am not a fan of the mixed calcium magnesium products like berocca calmag - much too expensive for what they are - really one should split the intake of calcium and magnesium to not have them inhibit each others uptake - but I am not sure what the magnitude of the inhibition is offhand.

Pexola is one of the drugs used for parkinsons treatment - its a dopamine agonist - probably not the best to take long term - call Dr Mavrodaris at olivdale hosp and ask her - she has a lot of parkinsons patients.

Specialist Physician prescribed me Trepiline for sleep disturbance/restless legs. Nothing worse than those "itching" legs coupled with insomnia! :(

Trepiline is a failed anti-depressant, is very cheap prescription. Chat to your doc.

And associated with weight gain... sometimes works apparently, but has a fair set of ugly side effects.
