Cycle Fan Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Hi guys, Just been told I need to start wearing my prescription glasses all the time and the eye doc reckons that should include sunglasses. Any suggestions that will not break the bank (considering I've just forked some serious cash on new prescription specs). Looked at Oakleys (but the price is very heavy). Anyone using the RX insert on Rudy Project or Adidas sunnies? Any other suggestions? Thanks
gremlin Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Rudy Project with rx insert works great, had mine now for 4 years and just keep changing prescription insert. And the photocromatic makes it great as you can wear it at anytime
NixM Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I know 3 people using the rudy project inserts, including myself. Work like the bomb don't fog with regular conditions but if riding in fog/clouds they become difficult. My mom even has bifocal lenses so she can see the road and her computer!

Tothehills Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I purchased supper cheap ones on chainreaction cycles once. Not sure if they are still available. Some years ago it was around R 100/frame. I orderd 4. I'm on my last set now. The look wont get you on the cover of any glossy magazine, but for the price, who cares. I did try contacts but with the smallest piece of grit entering my eye it becomes an issue and I did once loose a lens on a MTB race....not nice. An eye-guy in Sandton sorted me out, he's also a cyclist.

CyberSakkie Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I have also veen toying with the idea if optical inserts. Tried all of them on, nearly settled for the Adidas. But in the end, soft disposable lenses, with lekker sunnies sorts me out. My latest pair is also photochromic, works like a dream for me, as I can wear it anywhere and all the time. @Taps, do you have some more details on tje Scleral lenses? Compared to friends and family, dust, soil, mud and even smoke have never bothered me with my lenses in...
