Dr I am not saying you would not pay, however all the risk during this whole transaction has sat with Jared.

I do not understand why the doc want to ONLY PAY once the bike is received back in the same condition as sent?

The OP had to pay the money and wait for the bike, that was NOT as advertised so sure the DOC can pay and wait for the bike?

I agree, as charming as "the Doc" might sound on a forum, the only one who has been at risk and still is, is the OP.

There was not supposed to be a "risk". The buyer made a deal with Tinus and I received the money in my bank account. If you read my very first post carefully, you'll see exactly what happened. I also took a "risk" by trusting Bruce Reyneke's official invoice, stating the bike is a "Medium" size. I also took a "risk" to trust that Tinus knows more about bikes than myself.

I took the trouble to meticulously bubble wrap and box the bike perfectly, to drive all the way to Jo'burg and to send the bike off to the buyer. The rest is history. We all take daily "risks" when we deal with other people.

I prefer using the word "trust".

1. There is always a "risk" when you buy something over the net. There has been more than one scam here on thehub

2. Why "trust" the invoice? Look at the bike it has the size printed on it.

The buyer paid YOU without seeing the bike and trusting Tinus / YOU.

Now the buyer wants has to "trust" you and Tinus AGAIN and send the bike without having his money? You did not send the bike until you had the money so why must he do it?

I just shake my head at the hub sometimes, the issue is sorted out the buyer and seller are happy with the turn of events but still there's 'kakking and kerming' going on ......

Was gonna try say that all in big Afrikaans words but I am not as eloquent as you lot (not in English either)

I think we can only safely say its sorted once the transaction has been fully reversed and the buyer has the money back and the seller has the bike back.... but I get your point ;)

I joined the site because my integrity was indirectly under suspicion. Nobody requested me to do so. I wrote a rather lengthy post to state exactly what happened here. My private arrangements with the satisfied buyer need not really be evaluated and judged by you. (By the way, I have not even received the buyer's banking details yet, despite several emails and a phone call.)

Bad story, turns good, turns bad again.

This cannot be, hubbers are all honest and stand up guys who will respond correctly at all times ;)

Dr Uys to be honest with you I think Jared has been a little done in here. You have come on to the Hub to fix this mess that Tinus started which is great. However Jared is carrying all the risk in this whole transaction. You are staying there should never have been any risks well unfortunately any transaction taking place over the hub is a risk. Usually the buyer carries that risk.

It does not matter what was on the invoice Jared asked Tinus to measure up with a tape measure so blame the bike shop all you want but this could of been avoided had Tinus actually inspected the bicycle before posting it on the hub.

Thanks for wrapping the bike up before posting it off, if i ever purchased a bike from someone on the hub I hope they do the same. There is no risk involved in that. I am also sure Jared will do the same before sending the bike back to you and I am pretty sure the bike would be in the same condition you sent it to him in because he didn't actually get to ride the bike he wanted.

You received money from Jared and then released the bike so why have you not trusted him him as he trusted you and pay the money into his account

I wouldn't use the word satisfied, I think he is relieved that you have come in and sorted this all out
