would love to know what gearing the BMX dude had. for 3:30 you need to avg 31kmh and obviously there are times you will need to nail it at 40km/h, a BMX will spin out way before that.

Respect to the dude

Bunch Riding, with a decent seeding, its not impossible, just takes an amazing effort

Down blue route there is no way you will be able to stick with the pack, you will totally spin yourself into oblivion

El Capitan, could find out if he's strava or tracked that ride, be interesting to see...

Dude. You'd be surprised. A proper sprint at the top, and then tuck. No more pedalling. Bmx is a far smaller profile than a road bike, aand you can go faaarking fast on one

Surprise me Elcapitan and prove it

There didn't happen much with the bike this weekend.... I only washed it, and took those pegs off. I'm sure it was more than 1kg weight loss with just those four pegs

After that, I pumped up the tires, and rode about 10km.  It almost killed me. The riding position isn't great, and I have to stand pretty much to get the power down...

It's a totally different riding style. You're going to have to train yourself to ride out the saddle pretty much all the time. Used to do it as lighties, but now it's a totally different concept.

In the saddle on a BMX you have ZERO power.

Years back, I think in about 1995 myself and a mate where watching the argus go by from the old skate park in sun valley while we rode our bmxs on the ramps. He thought it would be a good idea to follow them for a while, so we did.

To camps bay!

Then we turned around and rode back again after the race finished.

So thats about 50 or so kms on a bmx.And im 1,92 tall. My back was so stiff the next day I could hardly get out of bed
