So I had a shoulder op  2weeks ago for a grade 3 ac joint seperation. Pain is easying off now but that damn little voice in my head still keeps saying I should line up. It wil be exactly 4 weeks on race day since I crashed and had the op. I would probably be ok on the bike and the run if I dont crash or fall, the swim is the issue.  Risk vs reward senario I suppose???

Any advise to put an end to my pondering?

Want to maybe find out if someone has a extra space for me traveling down to Durban on the Saturday and coming back on the Sunday.(Jhb/Pta area)

Or alternative is there someone that wants to drive down with me and share costs?

Don't really want to drive down on my own. Send me a PM.

My advice would be "dont drown"

Seriously though, its not like its a walk in the park and you either wont make it or you will make it but will suffer through it.

Personally I would say rest up and get strong, there will be plenty more races to come.

Only you really know your body though so you would have to make the call to see if you will be ok.

How strong is your kicking... ;)

Athletes always rush back into things...if anything it will be an adventure and some GEES.

But only you know how it really feels...

will there be showers to get the salt water off coming into T1 or only cleaning the feet type things?

1. not a local so try http://maps.google.co.za/to work out distances

2. there will be a shuttle on race day only

3. no showers due to water restrictions in DBN only foot baths

That sardine thing happened to me many years ago at the Suncoast tri. They cancelled the swim and did 2 runs instead. Hope it doesn't happen on Sat. Wish I was there!

Airport to Suncoast is about 30km. Will take you 20 - 40 minutes depending on the time of day you land. Commuter traffic on Friday can make it a very slow drive, but Saturday it will be quite quick. When you get onto the N3 from the airport, take the first exit for Umdloti and then take the coastal M4 road into Durban. This will give you a sighter of half of the cycle route.
