Does anyone ever ride anymore

I'm wondering how it's possible that I see so many people out on bikes every weekend, yet every bike for sale in the classifieds is , as new, never ridden, never raced, never seen tar, less than 200kms, gathering dust, only used on indoor trainer, use as clothes hanger, or not been touched since I bought my donkey.

Almost seems impossible to find a used second hand bike.

Dare I say the whole classified section stinks of BS?

There were some stats done the other day and some speculate that there are 200 000 cyclists in SA, with the hub being the primary, erm well hub of the sport I don't think it's too surprising seeing a "few" newish bikes coming on a week. Many guys try do deals to capitalize on the growth the sport is showing, other take it up simply to not like it.....

Edit: Before I get attacked on my stated figure, I want to add a disclaimer, it's not my figure, its one I heard in conversation with people who did some research.

My favourite is - "brand new! Only done 1000kms."

People have no concept of what "brand new" means.

And judging by the January we had on the Hub, yes, no one is riding their bikes. Only accusing dodgy sellers and joggers.

when selling a use frame, I once offered to show someone my Garmin Connect profile so they could see every ride I did, they could see how many times it was raining etc.
