Sorry, 17h30 through to 19h30. Every night.

But there have been officials at the gate at 05h30 recently, turning back everyone without a valid activity card. No excuses.

And to confirm it is now R65.00 for a day pass?

How safe is it to ride at 06h00 on weekday mornings?

I usually only ride Saturday or Sunday mornings, but just trying to gauge how strict they have become. Haven't ridden up in Tokai for almost a month now so interesting to gauge what is actually going on.

R 60 per person.

Very. Just don't go to the mast / saddle area by yourself - that's where the attacks have been, due to the proximity to the footpath that goes down to Imizamo Yethu. Parks are putting soomething together for this though, in conjunction with the guys at Tokai MTB & Table Mountain Bikers.

Very strict. No card or ticket, no ride. Memorising the numbers won't do you any good either. You need to have the card with you at all times, which is how it always has been but was never enforced.

What can they possibly do short of having a police patrol van sitting up there daily?

El Cap't it does not seem to be a flat fee - I know that Harkerville is about 2/3 of Tokai.

(and they maintain the trails)

This is VERY true

TBH I don't know what they'll be doing, but I suspect it'll be along the lines of having a private security contractor actually going up there and setting up some sort of operation. The MO is very clear, and the reports of the number of perpetrators are consistent at 4 people. The only reason they're still doing it is because it's easy pickings, and nobody is stopping them.

Thanks Capitan - I used to have a pic of my card on my phone - they now want to see the "physical card". Rules are rules and I stick to them.

Interesting you should say that. I have seen plenty of times people just qouting the number, so maybe it has changed since
