We stayed in E this morning, we missed one of our riders that was a little late. Took it pretty chilled over hells and the rollers to the N1 was able to set up a great pace line over and Ryan worked well till we caught C-D on the windmeul road, then it fragmented a bit as riders tries to bridge the gap.

Rolling into Paarl the group was rather subdue so after a little respite we had some fun of the front.

As we turned to Boschendal we picked up one of our riders who had a puncture from A. He looked pretty cross that he got another puncture after 99er so he dishes out some more pain on the front. Team pulled the group nicely to the finish. Finish line was a little further away than remember, boys finished in the bunch.

Boys that were distances when we caught C-D were best caught by G-H so a good effort there.

Nice event, organizers seemed really keen.

Done riders in E need to learn how the paceline works, either there was someone breaking away for 30 seconds out someone sitting in packed and breaking when getting to front :/

It was a great route. The race was well organised save for two things. (1) Was cycling with my wife in her group. Boy was she unhappy. There were no portable toilets at any water stations. Of all the rides we did, this race does not seem to cater for ladies needs. Last year it was the same. She actually sent the organisers an email about it last year. No reply to that. Not sure if it is the same organisers this year. She now vows not to do this race ever again. (2) At one intersection there were not a marshal in sight and the direction board was confusing. The bunch actually took a guess as to which way to go. The guess fortunately turned out right. Despite these and the wind I enjoyed the time out on my bike. Unlike other races...no cramping.

Got over hels with A bunch. Felt good. Pace was hectic over the R44 rollers. Somewhere we got misdirected and cycled an extra 6km! A caught B bunch - it happened!Crosswinds after the left turn was brutal. bunch split up into groups. Lots of chasing...felt like my stomach was turning itself inside out.Anyway found myself in the second group which managed to close the gap on the first grp on the R45.Small crash on the final turn right. Lady seemed okay.Finished in about 2:57.Wonder if the PPA will adjust A bunch times?

I think I may have been in that 2nd group with you. I was in Coronation kit and riding a scott addict. I had 109.9km on the clock when I crossed the line. Doubt they will adjust the times though. Just bad luck

What a Race....

By far the most difficult one I have done to date.

Just Just made it in time for my starting Group G.

We had a very strong rider from D joining us, take it he missed his starting group and was really upset about it.

Half way through the race when  Bankie( nice to meet you) and myself found ourselves on the wrong end of the group and a nasty split happed( wind) , had to pull like crazy to get back to leading group.

On the next hill I found myself in a little break away- 2 man and one girl( that girl packs some serious power) opened up a decent gap on the group as long as the road was facing up ,but knew it one the roads would flatten the group will get us and that's exactly what happened, was actually very nice to feel a break away first hand.

The 80 KM bonk didn't happen   I found the problem( dehydration) had an extra PUMP water bottle in my back pocket( had to get rid of it after 80km, apologies to those I offended by doing it but had no choice, was waiting for a water point to discard it but none was forthcoming).

@ KM 90 a huge attack came from the group D rider that started with us in G, was able to slowly pull him back on the climb with 2 guys on my wheel, we actually worked very well together for +-10 km to make sure we stay ahead of group and we did

Group D rider attacked again with a KM to go, tried chasing him down but had nothing left in the legs, well deserved winner

Nice meeting you u Winstonian 1984
