ASG gets plenty flak but let me tell you this was a great event. Will definitely be back next year and I hope we will see more guys entering.

Agree with you on that

What a feeling it was rolling over the line after Stage 3   By far the toughest race I have done in my life, but so rewarding! And a big shout out to ASG, they truly put up a spectacular Tour! I'll be back next year with a lot more training and none of this 4 week tapering nonsense... And thanks to everyone who hooked up to form groups, had a good time out on the road. Who said roadies aren't a friendly bunch hey?

Think we just missed each other. Do you know if there is a lost and found?

Hi, Do you think a average rider can complete the 3 day tour?

Hi Clint. It depends on what you regard as an average rider. The Tour is by no means easy, but if you prepare for it by putting in the miles, then you can complete it yes. Have you done any stage races yet? There is a mental side to riding these things that no amount of training (on the bike) can help you with, you have to be prepared to go into some deep dark places to finish.

I did the Jock Classique in 5H18, I suppose it depends on how well I recover after each stage.Thanks.

Then you should manage just fine (I did the second stage in 6h14). Recovery is very important yes, and not pushing too hard from the start. Good luck for next year

Thanks, so just pace yourself and save some for the last day. Now to save for the R4000 entry :-)

Exactly! The last day ends with a killer... Haha, I really hope they rethink that entry fee! Good luck!

Yeah the entry fee does leave a question mark although this year I can say I benefited handsomely.

I held off buying sunglasses when I entered this and can say I'm very happy with what I got. The nutrition packs worked for me as well. The hoodie has also come in handy under "the circumstances".

But for many i guess it wouldn't have worked out and forking out nearly 4 grand is considerable. If I was unhappy with the glasses I would've been very unhappy with the entry fee.

Same here, had a crash earlier in the year and required a new helmet. Luckily I entered last year and, qualifying for the early bird helmet, ASG sent me mine early, so winning all the way. Sunnies goes to my mom who just started out cycling and nutrition will come in handy. But next year I don't want everything again, so a reduced fee will be awesome!

I concur. It's an incredible challenge. On day 2 I had no idea how I was going to get through. Must admit I thought first of pulling the plug and then thought of asking the missus to drive shotgun on day 3.

But come morning of day 3 I had recovered, found my climbing rymth and had the best day yet. It really does move your tolerance levels a lot higher.

I think that's the key. They would do well if they give people some options. The discount booklet doesn't mean much and like you say the same stuff next year won't work for the same entrants.

I would be happy if the Jock Tour kit was thrown into the mix. Like stuff one can use again.

But they should also have the basic option where they don't get flack for "forcing" stuff onto people.

It's ASG, they are already rethinking the entry fee ~ in the form of an increase

so a reduced fee will be awesome!

Keep dreaming, it's not going to happen.
