Anybody from Paarl side who can offer me a lift up? My wife & kids want to

come up later for the Oak Valley Food & Wine Event. If I can avoid having 2

cars there, it would be great.

my favourite race on PPA calender

and yes it has technical single tracks, fast descends with rutted areas and very steep climbing all jammed into 50kms!

if this doesnt get you excited you shouldnt be on a MTB

I'm out :)

After a rediculous repair bill at Gravel Travel last year, I've turned into a Fair Weather rider, instantly.

Looks to be a muddy sandpaper drivetrain chewing TruCape again this year with all the rain ;)

Enjoy!

Looks like you need a SS .... and yes the Tru Cape is doable on a SS, if I as a big boned rider can do it, then so too can you!

Actually flipping lekker ride on a SS!

Hmmm..not a bad idea, maybe a good investment, especially in winter

Its not raining in Grabouw, yr.no predicts 0.6mm rain between now and saturday.

I'm still contemplating taking the SS to this race, if the heavens opens between then and Now I'll defs take the SS though.

Singlespeeding is ideal for winter.

The only thing I had to replace on the SS the last time I did the TruCape in horrendous weather was the BB ..... but then again I did intentionally ride through all the puddle and that one particularity deep "little puddle" that had the water line close to the top tube

My first Tru-Cape and it certainly wont be my last! Did the 50. Awesome trails. Lots and lots and lots of climbing, which slows us 'big boned boys' up considerably. I've done the TransBaviaans, 100 Miler, 24 Hours of Oak Valley and the Philadelphia mtb race but I must say this is the first event that I've felt like a proper mountain biker.

TruCape delivered and then some.

Awesome weather, trails in good nick and not too much mud (just enough for a full body sprinkle to look good for the camera). A few new challenges though. I wonder how many poeple were sent into the bushes by that surprise 2m drop-off and the 30% steep bridge climb ;)

Ha ha, Attempted the 30% steep Bridge climb, had to be fished out the bushes!

Attempted the crazy drop off, I dropped off my bike in the bushes!

Guys weren't kidding either about this ride being tough on the bike, my old avalanche normally tough as nails had lots of issues this ride, Lost the one side of the left cleat, carried on, then the other side broke when hoofing up a rocky section, so took the right side one and put it on left half pedal each side.

Then my cleat somehow worked itself loose and lost the nuts that hold that on my shoe so used on of the two from right shoe.

Last 10KM's flying down a rocky section of jeep track I hear a pop and ffsshhhh, burst my tube on the back wheel!

4 Hours ride, got my monies worth

Indeed a good taste of tru-cape MTB riding. Would do it again with all the breakdowns, gave this ride extra character for me.

Well done to everyone who completed the 50KM
