I enjoyed this thoroughly even though I though of selling my bike multiple times during the race :D.

This was especially tough after a week of partying and tiger fishing on a houseboat.

The organiser delivered big time, especially at the very reasonable entry fee.

This must be one of my toughest 50km races I have done, but I will be back next year.

True cape was my second MTB  race I ever did a few years back.  And I was absolutely out of my depth as my technical ability at that stage did not even constitute of  riding down the pavement without climbing of my bike. I am going to attempt this race  again this year and see how it goes.  :)

After reading a few of the comments here I decided not to enter the race as I am currently on just over 11 000km on my groupset and realized I am asking for trouble.

Hopefully I will in a better position next year to test myself.

But reading the reviews makes me feel disappointed  that I did not enter.  Sounds like you had fun.  :D

why did the organisers change the route from previous years???

really dont understand the logic behind that, they made an awesome route EVEN better

endless flowing single track, some freshly cut with the expected long climb halfway through.

well organised event, will be back once again next year

Who took the event photos?

I think it was the event organisers themselves that took the photos, i found this on their facebook page.

"Saturday's Tru-Cape MTB was a great success with many more riders than last year. By June 1, when Tru-Cape's new website is complete, we will upload all the photos taken on the day."

It was my 1st TruCape as well and I thoroughly enjoyed the 50km race.

I rode with 2 buddies and we stayed together until around halfway when my 1 buddy dropped back and at 35kms I left my other buddy on the long final climb before the rocky descent.

The amount of single track and quality of them was awesome even tho I struggled to stay on the wheels of my buddies coz my technical skills are not great at the moment. I hardly ever ride my MTB and that showed in the technical bits and single track.

I really enjoyed the entire race as it had a little bit of everything and the view and  scenery was absolutely amazing. I will def be back again next year.

The only thing that needs improving is to maybe start the race at 8am so that we can finish earlier and then build more gees at finish line as that was the only thing lacking a little bit.
