ASG

I wasn't directing my statement at that one particular question, but rather the trend here of continuous slating of one party by another and not rather promoting the one you support/believe in.

Given how very little info there is out there on this messy divorce, speculations and accusations should be expected and questions are going to be asked? Organisers are just going to have to take it on the chin.

On your point: When you say organizers, are you referring to ASG or Carinus? We should be clear as that is a very serious allegation that is being made.

That's for Franschoek Cycles to clarify as he is the one making the accusation?

I think the difference is that I did ride the event and I was subject to the crappy organising and timing issues.

So I welcome somebody coming in and doing a better job, I could'nt give a toss if it is ASG, Woolworths, Helen Zille herself who end up organising.... I want to do a properly organised multi stage road race.

I also couldnt actually care less about Carinus vs ASG, thats their issue to sort out, they are both big boys.I am pretty sure they are both in the wrong.

If you want to boycott them, cool thats your choice. But boycotting somebody on something that never affected you in the first place is weird.

This is like boycotting PostNet for stepping on the Post Office's territory, they did this because they feel that they can do a better job. But why should I care, I only send e-mail.... But screw PostNet!!!! VIVA

What happens if they launch a 'new' Trans Baviaans on the same date as the original and lay claim to the event being the replacement of the TB? The TB gets cancelled as a result and the new event takes you on a flat piece of dirt road? If sponsors / organizers behave unethically it's only a matter of time before it filters through to where we are all affected.

I think the question of who acted unethically is what is up for debate. Not what happens when someone does, that part is obvious.

Well the onus is on ASG to prove innocence really.....they the ones with the reputation for poaching races from organisers, where there's smoke there's fire. (and saying "we would win if it went to litigation" doesn't make you the innocent party)

Oh WOW!

If the thought train here is that people need to prove their innocence, and not for people to prove their allegations then this debate will never get anywhere.

The burden of proof ALWAYS lies on the one making the allegation. If ASG make an allegation against TdB, then they must prove that. If you make one against them them you must prove it.

But saying someone is guilty until they have proven themselves innocent is very wrong.

Now you've just gone and done it - copying my idea, wrapping it up differently and making it sound like your own. Any coincidence with the original is purely accidental. Next you'll have your own thread on the Hub about how awesome your idea was... ;)

I imagine WIkus from Ecobound is frantically checking the calendar to see if there is an event called "Through the Valley of Baboons" that just happens to be on the same weekend as Trans Baviaans...

Let's hope that they are both successful and that we are riders get to choose between two cool events.

Or that they resolve the issues at hand and present one kickass tour...

Seriously doubt it judging by the way this had been dealt with so far. You would think the people (either side) who have reputations, other business interests/risks at stake would care a little bit more about an amicable solution.

Competition isn't a bad thing but given the "bad blood" and mudslinging this is not exactly healthy competition.

ok, I definitely could have framed that a bit differently, there's no court action - no one has to do anything. Sure behind the scenes CSA will have the say who gets on the calender.

BUT in terms of the PR game..asg have got a reputation for swooping in to partner with races and then poaching them off the founder. Maybe they don't care about this, but this event unfolding only perpetuates it further.

soooooooo tempting to reply in detail to rubbish statements like this....come and have a coffee at ASG - (Pretoria, Italy or Paarl office)...open invitation to get all the facts or at least then see another version of the truth :)

Better hurry up and enter guys - team entries filling up quickly!  Going to be hard but awesome.  Each team will get custom team kit jerseys designed and manufactured by Ftech in Italy (with individual team designs).  Team TT going to be a nice new feature on day 2.
